Be The Change

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior of the world, Donald Trump is the best option for the next President of the United States of America, and prayer should be allowed in public schools. I am pro-life and in favor of the 2nd Amendment. Also, college should not be free to all American citizens and illegal immigration needs to be stopped at all costs. Assisted suicide and euthanasia should be considered murder.

Your opinions and beliefs will most likely differ from mine and that is perfectly fine. I am not going to be offended by our differences because that is an absurd excuse to exude anger. It is your right as an American to be able to say and believe what you see fit. The First Amendment of our great nation prohibits “abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press." Never be afraid to state your beliefs no matter the circumstances because you are literally protected by law.

Many young people think taking a stance on important issues is something they’ll eventually do later in life. However, now is the best time to decide what you believe in because your opinions will evolve over time. By starting now, you can begin building the strong foundation that you will need to stand firm on your beliefs throughout your life. If you do not wholeheartedly support what you believe in, what makes you think you can inspire or persuade someone to believe the same things? What is the point of believing in something if you don’t want to spread its’ message? Believe in yourself and you can make a difference. Being a leader is a gift that many people never have the courage to utilize. Always remember that the greatest leaders lead to serve others.

The greatest leader our world has ever known, Jesus, came not to be served, but to serve. Seize every opportunity you have to share your platform, whether it pertains to politics or your favorite sandwich. You never know how many lives you could change. America needs young people who aren’t afraid to stand up and be ridiculed for what they believe. You don’t have to stand on a mountainside and proclaim your beliefs to the world in order to make a difference. You could respectfully stand up for your religious preference when someone is degrading it or refuse to attend the concert of a band who supports something that you believe is wrong. You could simply register to vote and have the ability to change history. Imagine if every person between the ages of 18 and 25 voted in the upcoming presidential election.

We could possibly have the deciding vote of who becomes the next Commander-in- Chief. It may feel nice to not have a care in the world by avoiding the inevitable responsibility of "adulting," but we need to face reality and make the world better for the next generation. Never be apprehensive to speak out when something does not seem right to you and certainly never apologize for what you believe. You only get one life. Make a difference.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
