You're Not Besties Until You've Vacationed Together

The car ride is worth it, trust me.

One thing I believe every single person in college should do, besides graduate, is to take a vacation with their best friends. Not only will an opportunity to do this become smaller and smaller after graduation, but it is some of the most fun you will ever have.

Yes, the pictures you take will last a lifetime but so too will the memories that go along with them. You will look back one day and think to yourself, "I wish I could go back."

So that's exactly what I did this year for spring break. Four of my besties and I packed up our cars and were bound for Seaside, Florida!

The past two spring breaks I have had were spent in the cold and I was not ready to make a three-peat of that. Thanks to one of my friend's family, we were all able to stay in a beautiful beach house just walking distance to the ocean.

Two days, 14 hours, and a couple of overpacked suitcases later we were out of Kansas City and in beautiful, sunny Florida.

Everything there couldn't have been more perfect. The air was warm, the sun was out (most days), we were at the beach every day and best of all, I was with my best friends the whole time. Of course, vacationing somewhere as relaxing as Seaside is amazing, but it was being with my friends that made the trip truly unforgettable.

Traveling with your besties is great for a number of reasons. For one, they know your good angles and you two know how to take amazing pictures of each other and together! Bikini pictures can be frustrating to take no matter who you are, but your bestie won't do you wrong, she'll take a stunning picture of you no matter how long it takes!

You'll also never be bored traveling with best friends. Hopefully, you'll never be bored in such a nice place to start off with, but if the day gets slow or it ends up raining outside it's not a total bust because best friends make the best of a bad situation.

One of the best reasons to vacation with your friends is to share food! Not everyone is always hungry at once, but at least one is down to go grab a bite of food with you. Or if you're going out for dinner or dessert someone is will want to split a plate of food or cake with you! Paying half price for a lot of food on the trip will definitely save both of your bank accounts.

Vacations like these are made for you to let loose and be carefree. Your family may not be up for day drinking and laying on the beach all day but that is why we have best friends.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
