Because sometimes we just don't want to wait in line for Chic-fil-a.

Top 10 Places to Grab Lunch on Ole Miss's Campus

In This Article:

We've all had the realization that we've been eating the same 3 things for the past two weeks while in school. Why not branch out to some of the other places on campus?

10: Steak and Shake

Burger. Fries. Shake. It's iconic. Plus, it's one of the the only place on campus where you can get an actual milkshake. It's worthy of a place on this list.

9: RC South's Dining Hall

They have an ice cream machine. Need I say more?

If I do, they also have two dining halls respective of the two dorms they primary service so if you feel like eating alone, finding a corner would be easy. Lastly, they bring a more homey feel than Rebel Market.

8: Papa John's in Minor

It's 1 am and you're studying. Your stomach and mind are both in distress.

You can't fix your mind's torment, but there is one place for sure that can cradle your starving body in its greasy arms at such a time without leaving campus.

It's Papa John. He cares- until 2 a.m. at least.

7: Panda Express

Noodles? Rice? Panda has you. Want spicy meat? What about sweet and savory? Check.

If you care about your taste buds, you'd visit Panda Express. You can also watch your friends stand in their near sempiternal place in line at Chic-fil-a as you walk by with an entire plate of meat and noodles for the same price as 8 nuggets and a fry. It's a good bang for your buck.

6: Raising Cain's

Overall, the chicken is worth the trek to the Pavilion. For the best piece of Texas toast not in Texas, always hot chicken strips, and crispy french fries, Ole Miss's Pavilion's staff always comes through. The only downside is the only thing technically on the menu is chicken. Not much food diversity here.

5: Starbuck's in the Union

This is a great place to grab lunch because it features many of the most popular Starbucks drinks and some exclusives like smoothies. Also, the pastry case is much larger and more diverse than the one in the library. The menu even has a lunch combo option for only $8. Stops can be made here for cake, sandwiches, or even a breakfast smoothie, making the new addition a top spot for lunch on campus.

4: McAlister's

Although the University has students from literally everywhere, many of us are southerners. That means we'd be more than ecstatic to climb multiple flights of stairs and wait in a line for actual sweet tea (no shade to Raising Caines's).

McAlister's also has a pretty healthy menu while also offering things like nachos and desserts.

3: Qdoba

If stuffed burritos or bowls full of rice and meat are your thing, Qdoba has you. If you like retro-themes sodas in actual glass bottles, Qdoba has you. No one eats a burrito bowl of steak and rice and says they are still hungry afterwards. It's a good bang for your meal plan's buck.

2: Chic-Fil-A

Everyone loves Chic-Fil-A. Their line is unparalleled at any point of the day. It's a luxury that you have to be willing to wait for. Therefore, it's just not ideal if you're trying to wait less than 25 minutes just to order and get on with your probably busy day. In some cases, you'd even turn out better driving to the local Chic-Fil-A and using the "order ahead" feature in the app.

Also, the menu is not as full as a regular restaurant, which is understandable. Still, some fan-favorites like the spicy fillet or an ice cream cone are left out of the experience, making our local express-based facility a step under an actual store.

1: Freshii

Freshii has a very diverse menu comprised of solely healthy choices. They have salads, wraps, bowls, soups, smoothies, and even healthy dessert options like frozen kefir and energy bites. It's located right under Rebel Market which makes it a great place to be away from the noon buzz of the union. Because it's the only food vendor inside the building's first floor, there is a lot of seating space as well. Overall, Freshii's location, menu diversity, and healthy foundation make it the best place to grab lunch on Ole Miss's campus.
