The 7 Best Discontinued Snacks Of The Last 10 Years

In This Article:

Today as I'm home for Christmas break, I am eating some Chipotle Ranch Cheetos in my kitchen that taste vaguely like these really good ranch-flavored Cheetos I used to eat a lot in high school. It got me to thinking of what some of my other favorite discontinued snacks of the decade were.

1. Cheetos Zingers

Amazon

The Cheetos that inspired this article. There were other flavor combinations, but this is the one I ate the most often. I still remember locking myself in my room with a bag of these to send a Facebook message to whichever boy I had a crush on, because I was grounded from Facebook that week and had to hide from my parents to go online. I left the bag in my room by accident and found it months later when they were sadly very stale.

2. Peach Mango Vitamin Water

Amazon

This was the best Vitamin Water flavor. I discovered it in eighth grade and could only find it at a very specific Albertson's (Lucky's) store, so I didn't get to have it that often. I usually had the Power-C flavor (dragonfruit?) instead.

3. Cherry Citrus SoBe

My 6th grade crush mentioned SoBe in a passing reference one day, so I asked my mom to get me some from the grocery store that afternoon. This was the flavor I tried, and it was amazing. Unfortunately, my mom discovered it had caffeine in it, which I wasn't allowed to have growing up. It was on my list of things I wanted at my eighteenth birthday party, but was long discontinued by then.

4. Stride Mystery Gum

Amazon

With an honorable mention for the Forever Fruit flavor. Mystery Stride was my gum of choice at fourteen. I remember walking to sophomore year registration while chewing this. Found a pack with some pieces left under my bed two years later. I wasn't going to see if they were still good, but it was tempting.

Other honorable gum mentions: that Orbit thirst-quenching gum with the weird commercials. Did nothing to quench my thirst, but it sure did taste good. Also, Trident Layers. Are those still a thing? I feel like I haven't seen them in forever.

5. Cheddar Bacon Goldfish

Amazon

Not sure if these are still a thing, but I haven't been able to find them in stores in forever. These were my go-to church snack when I was first going to the young single adult meetings. That, and this weird maple bacon popcorn from Safeway.

6. Yoplait Whips (Peach flavor)

WalMart

According to the YoPlait website, these are still available (but not the peach flavor) despite the fact that I haven't seen them in a grocery store since 2014. I also remember a cherry and chocolate flavor, but Google Images doesn't. Apparently they still make the strawberry, raspberry chocolate, key lime, and caramel flavors, which were my other favorites. This is the yogurt I was eating during an IM fight with my seventh grade best friend. She wanted to finish the argument so she could eat cookies, so I told her I was eating this yogurt while arguing with her to prove that we could fight AND eat at the same time. Oh, middle school.

7. Trix Yogurt

Walmart

On the subject of yogurt, remember Trix yogurt? Strawberry kiwi was the best flavor. It was the flavor I was eating (frozen, because I made those yogurt popsicles before it was shown in their commercials) during the first and only earthquake I ever felt, in seventh grade.

Here's to all the snacks we currently enjoy that could easily end up on one of these lists in 10 years. Never take food for granted!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
