Ice cream, donuts, and cupcakes, oh my! I am always on the hunt to satisfy my sweet tooth, and these seven places will do just the trick! All located in the city of Chicago, IL, I will definitely be visiting them during summer vacation. Maybe more than once. Scratch that, definitely more than once. Oops.

1. Bombobar

This fast-casual walk up eatery is known for their donuts and gelato. Bombobar is located at 832 W Randolph, and open from 8am-11pm. They offer a variety of hot chocolate in the winter as well as “Italian ice pouches” in the summer!

You can view their menu here!

2. Firecakes Donuts

Made fresh daily, Firecakes’ sticks to their closely guarded family recipe. Known for their wide variety of signature donuts as well as seasonal favorites, there’s certainly a flavor for everyone! They have three locations in the Chicago area, in River North, Lincoln Park, and Oak Park. Personally, the birthday cake donut made my mouth water and made me want to eat one, like yesterday. You can view all their donuts here!

3. Smallcakes: A Cupcakery and Creamery

I saw a video of this place on Facebook and practically drooled. Offering a numerous amount of flavors of their cupcakes and ice cream, it’s a treat that definitely can’t be beat. Chicago Magazine refers to them as, “a love child between your two favorite desserts”. All I have to say is, is it summer yet so I can go home and get one?

4. Sprinkles Cupcakes

Sprinkles offers over twenty different cupcake flavors, including a pupcake! So don’t be afraid to bring your four-legged friend with you! I’ve been to the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM and it was so cool. It’s exactly as it sounds – a cupcake ATM. Open 24/7. Hello, paradise. Sprinkles also offers ice cream and cookies inside of their store front! They’re located at 50 east Walton street.

PS: Be sure to check out their weekly menu here, as the availability of cupcakes change every week, as well as every season!

5. Nutella Café

Crepes, waffles, pancakes, oh my! This café is located at 151 N Michigan Ave, and can definitely take your Nutella craving to the next level. The pricing is a little high for something that could be easily made at home, but it’s definitely worth the trip to experience it once!

Visit the menu here!

6. Stan's Donuts

My high school chemistry teacher raved about this place, and I’ve always wanted to try it since he spoke so highly of it. Known for their donuts, they offer such a wide range of flavors that they make it hard to choose just one! They also offer ice cream and bagels! There are nine locations across the Chicagoland area, from Millenium Park, to Oakbrook Mall. You can even get your order delivered from Grubhub! Explore their menu here!

7. Cone Gourmet Ice Cream

Now look, ice cream is my favorite snack in the entire world. When I heard about this place on Instagram, I double tapped so fast, and screenshot the picture so I could save it for when I went here! May I suggest ordering “the Shamrock” which is soft serve ice cream served with Lucky Charms cereal on top. Y-U-M. Get your Instagram ready because this will definitely serve up a lot of likes. You can get your serving at 1047 W Madison St!

I am a firm believer in always having room for dessert, and boy, do these restaurants take desserts to the next level! Now, which one to visit first?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
