For those who do not know who Avicii is, let me give you a quick summary about him. Avicii, also known by his real name Tim Bergling, was a Swedish DJ and producer that went onto top charts in multiple countries and toured around the world with his uplifting house anthems. He began making music at the age 18, where he was writing and remixing tracks in his bedroom and uploading them onto the internet.
Avicii rose to fame quickly at the beginning of 2011 with his release of "Levels," and a year later earned a Grammy nomination for his David Guetta collaboration "Sunshine." His work was designed to appeal the largest audience possible, which led to his song "Wake Me Up;" which was the most-streamed song on Spotify at the time it was released.
Eventually, this led him to do a lot of live concerts, which helped him to become one of the busiest EDM artists in the world. However, in 2016, Avicii stopped touring due to his health problems, with it being reported that he was suffering from acute pancreatitis. Even though he stopped touring, this did not prevent him from producing music. He continued to produce music that lead him to release his EP Avicii (01) in 2017.
However, on April 21, 2018, Avicii passed away at the age 28. This came to a shock to a lot of us, including me. At this time, there are no reports as to what was the cause of his death. Therefore, to remember one of the greatest EDM artists, here are my top 5 favorite songs from Avicii:
1. Silhouettes
Something about this song, it gives me life on days where I felt dead. One of the lyrics "And we will never look back, at the faded silhouette we've come a long way since that day" makes me look back of how far I have come along in my life and that I should continue to be in the path that I am.
2. I Could Be The One
Now this song is absolutely one of my favorites from Avicii. Up until this day, I still listen to this song.
3. Seek Bromance
This was one of Avicii's earlier songs when he was known as Tim Bergling. This was the period where EDM music was gold.
4. Levels
Around the time that this song came out, I was only 14 years old. This was the song that rose him to fame. It absolutely was one of his best songs ever. Rest in peace, legend.
5. Wake Me Up
This is the song that everyone should know him for. Still another one of my favorites of all time. Thank you for creating songs that inspired a whole generation.
Your music will always be remembered.
