Being a Northerner and a student in the south is an amazing experience. I've enjoyed the friendliness, the history, the beach, and the warmth.

I always said that I wanted to go to school down south because of the beautiful weather. Little did I know that the south is extremely prone to hurricanes.

The annual hurrication is annoying.

But, there are some things you can do to make your experience somewhat positive.

Here are 10 ways to make the most out of a hurrication!

1. Realizing that you love your school

You know what they say, 'you don't know what you have until it's gone.' The first semester of college can be an emotional rollercoaster.

One day you are loving life, then the next you could be questioning your decision of even going to college in the first place. When I heard that Charleston was under mandatory evacuation, I dreaded leaving. That's when I knew I loved my school.

2. Visit your high school friends that are nearby

Hurrications are a great excuse to see the people you miss the most. I get to see one of my best friends, Summer, who is still in high school.

Hopefully, she knows that I will spend the majority of our time together persuading her to apply to my school. Also, Paulina goes to school just a train ride away from our hometown.

Boston here I come!

3. Miss your college friends

Sure, missing people isn't fun, and it certainly doesn't make your hurrication better. However, missing your college friends is a rewarding feeling. It means that you have established friendships that are strong enough to be excited to return to.

4. Enjoy doing your school work

When you're at school, doing the work can be a pain. But, when you're at home missing school and the closest thing you can do to feel like you're there is doing school work, you'll welcome it.

5. Do nothing

Or you can neglect everything that you have read so far and do nothing at all. College kids have very little time to do nothing.

6. Do your favorite face mask

Before I left for school, I was a face mask guru. I have only done one face mask since I left for school one month ago. It was a sheet face mask from Urban Outfitters that was $2.50. Now that I am home, I can do my complex face masks that improve my skin and return to school more confident. This goes for any aesthetically improving activity.

7. Go on a shopping spree

As I was packing for the hurrication, I claimed that I wasn't bringing a lot of clothes with me because I didn't know how long I would be gone for. Although this is true, I also set myself up for a potential shopping spree.

8. Drive

Almost everyone I talk to at school says the thing they miss most about home is driving. Enjoy the control before you are walking or Ubering everywhere you go.

9. Eat the food you couldn't at school

I said I loved the school, not the food. Most days my roommate and I would dream about a home cooked meal or a meal from a restaurant that would put our bank accounts in danger. Now that your home, take it in while you can!

10. Get healthy

If you've been struck by the college plague, use this hurrication to get healthy. Your body will thank you when you return to school.

Happy hurrication!!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
