I Believe Time Heals Almost Everything

A reminder: negatives don't last forever.

Time, often referred to as the fourth dimension, keeps order and flow in our lives, smoothly transitioning to another in chronological order. It's what separates an illusional dream from reality.

Time is more than just something that is read and measured. It's a tool used to alter the future, affected by the past and created in the present.

Everything and everyone eventually changes over time, it's something we all learn to accept. Therefore, I truly believe time heals almost everything.

I didn't really discover this revelation in just one event, but rather a series of recollections throughout the 18 years of my life. I remember when my best friend in elementary moved away, and I had nobody to eat lunch with or play in recess. I thought it was the end of the world, but after a few weeks, I eventually made new friends and learned to move on.

Another time, I had to give a speech for a crowd of hundreds of students and I forgot my place. I had forgotten what to say, and I stood silently on stage while being laughed at by my fellow peers. I remember that day perfectly well and how I felt. I felt like I was choking on my words, my hands freezing cold, and I just wanted to crawl inside my own skin until the end of time.

But as hours, days, and weeks passed, those terrible feelings slowly faded away, and life began to regain it's joyful colors.

I truly believe everyone has a beautiful mind and soul, and once in a while our intentions result in us getting hurt, but it's important to remember that negatives are not forever.

For example, remember when you were younger and you lost a pet or loved one, or you broke your phone, or your favorite TV show character was killed off and you thought your life was over and you would never be able to move on? But you're still here.

That's because everything you ever thought you couldn't overcome, you've overcome in time.

Whenever I get in a bad situation, I think to myself, "Will this matter 10 years from now? Will I still be feeling the same way in the distant future?"

Most of the time the answer is no, which is why I believe time heals almost everything.

So smile, be hopeful. When you are stuck in an awful situation, give time. Take a break. Have a KitKat. Breathe. For every minute you are sad, you lose 60 seconds of happiness. Never make choices while under stress or pressure, for often times the worst decisions come from a unclear mind.

There is time in everyone and you, so much time to buy and so much time to lose. And even in times where there is no time, it's good to keep a mentality that there is time, and you will find that it'll be so much easier to keep calm in stressful situations.

However, as good as it is to give time to any situation, you will find yourself to value time more if you were to treat everyone as though there is no time left in the world.

Because, going back to reality, we really do not have all the time in the world. We must learn to appreciate the time spent with others.

Kiss your mom goodbye, tell your friends you love them, connect with your siblings. You may not know when the time you spend with someone can be the last.

Time can be tricky, but we all have the potential of setting our minds to perceive it well. Like the quote says, "Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it, you can never get it back."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
