I Don't Need To Identify With A Political Party

No, I'm not indecisive.

As 2017 wraps up in less than a month and 2018 approaches, I decided it was time that I am clear with where I stand on the political spectrum.

A little bit of that also has to do with the fact that I will be 20 in a couple months and should pay attention to how the country I live in is being run.

Crazy idea right? Actually paying attention to something that could affect me as an adult. That complaint is for another day and another article. I decided that I am in the middle or somewhere along those lines and for all those who feel the same, that is okay.

My reasoning is mostly due to how I grew up but also my own beliefs as a millennial and a young adult in 2017 looking down into the future. My personal beliefs tend to lean towards liberal. Love is love is love. Birth control should be accessible to everyone to prevent unplanned pregnancies.

Pro-choice because it is your body, you do what you want to do. It is your choice. I advocate so social issues and am vocal about it. While I have those liberal views which are associated with the democratic party, I do have strong views that are associated with the Republican party.

I believe that there should be an emphasis on military right now with our spending and more military action should be taken due to where the world is with terrorism of ISIS and North Korea. With how I grew up, my parents have done everything right in life as far as always working, going to college and getting an education, in general just being a middle-class family.

With the money that was made from the jobs my parents work, I get no help with college at all even though we barely have the funds to afford it. I believe something should be about that.

Also where the money is going with Narcan. Some of those who do drugs are being saved but then go right back to using. They won't get better until they have the will to.

With all of that being said about myself and my beliefs, you can see that I am very much in the middle with certain aspects of both parties appealing to me. It is okay not to identify as one or the other. When voting, I chose who I thought would do the best job, not because I was one party or the other and that is okay. Being in the middle is sometimes the best thing because you can see both sides of issue.

In the end, we all relativly want the same thing. It is just how you get there that seperates the two.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
