Being Lazy Is Actually Not As Bad As It Seems According To Science

Society as a whole strongly endorses the fact that people who tend to be lazy are not ingrained with traits that would make them accountable, responsible, and most importantly, productive at any significant task.

Although laziness is something that I strongly strive to prevent myself from becoming a victim of, I'm a bit surprised as to how being lazy can actually be good for you? According to a TIME article by Chris Bailey, laziness contributes to an unfocused mind which leads to elevated levels of creativity to spike within people. Honestly, I have never imagined such a thing could be scientifically true but as you know, the world is not round.

Society as a whole strongly endorses the fact that people who tend to be lazy are not ingrained with traits that would make them accountable, responsible, and most importantly, productive at any significant task. However, I would like to play Devil's advocate and claim that this ideology is not necessarily true. Even though I thought the same way until I have come across Bailey's article detailing his own personal habit of enjoying laziness and how you can start thinking from a whole new dimension.

Usually, when I'm bitten by the "lazy" bug, I indulge in watching riveting and innovative videos or series on Youtube and Netflix. Sometimes these movies or series portray life in a much more realistic way as opposed to how our actual lives are penned.

It's as if some sort of catharsis is automatically springing from the various types of art and media exposure to us. This is what laziness means, simply just taking some time off to re-introduce yourself to the society, people, and seemingly uncomfortable situations that sometimes takes a major toll on us. For instance, while you are watching something, you learn a lot about how the characters deal with the trials and tribulations you find yourself struggling to deal with in the real world.

As Bailey asserts, "When our attention is at rest — like during bouts of idleness or laziness — our mind wanders to fascinating places." So, it doesn't hurt being lackadaisical when you need to plan for the future and get those rocking creative ideas to burst out!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
