Being A Picky Eater Is What Makes Me, Me!

Honestly, I will forever be a kid at heart. I mean that with everything I do, but I mean that especially when it comes to my taste in food. I have no idea what it is, but I have always been a picky eater that could live my entire life eating off of a kids menu.

My favorite foods consist of pizza, french fries, steak, basic salads, chicken fingers (my all time favorite), bread, pasta, chinese food and definitely more that I just can't think of. Oh, I also have the largest sweet tooth in the world. I could and do eat candy every day and I am always confused as to how I don't have a cavity. I even said that to my dentist!

Wow okay it really sounds like I am 6 years old at this point. I have no shame! I have always been so picky when it comes to food and my friends and family always make fun of me for it. I mean, my little cousins are eating lobster and fish and I will be sitting next to them eating pasta and fries. I always play along with the jokes, though. I find it funny and love that one of my all time favorite foods is chicken fingers!

The beginning of college was pretty rough for me because I would be eating the most unhealthy foods every single day. I had the option to eat vegetables and other healthy things, but I just chose not to. However, I have definitely opened myself up more to new foods, and I am always so proud of myself when I try new foods!

I am one of those people who will order a salad, and ask for half of it to be taken off. Or, I will order the meal how it is and then I take it off myself. It is always so amusing to my friends (not my mom though, haha). However, what is pretty weird to me is that some of the things I eat, other people say to me, "how do you eat that". For example, I love beets, and I love broccoli. I don't think I have met one person who has liked beets before. I also love ketchup with rice and eggs. But.. I don't like sushi.. Or many other foods. It is very strange, but perfectly describes the life of a picky eater!

Ok ok, I do love all food and I have definitely been opening up my palate now that I am in college, but deep down, my favorites will always be the most simple, yet the most amazing kinds of food. I definitely see myself being 60 years old and still ordering chicken fingers at a restaurant. I'm perfectly okay with that though.. Because first of all, they are just so damn good! And second of all, it is what makes me, me!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
