Going To Bed Late Is Okay, Waking Up Late Is Not

MAJOR KEY ALERT: a morning routine.

Freshman year was easy living. I went to bed late and woke up late. I was consistently tired, but from what? I would get out of bed at 10:15 AM for my 10:30 class. I thought I had it made! I thought this was college. But the bags under my eyes became an everyday thing and not just a finals week thing. I knew something needed to change when I noticed how much my face had aged in just two semesters of college. The best concealer Sephora had to offer was not helping me.

For my sophomore year, I had a new routine and a new attitude.

7:55 AM- Struggle to get out of bed, without hitting snooze. My first victory of the day!

8:00 AM- Start the Keurig and oatmeal. Caffeine is MAJOR KEY.

8:05 AM- Wash my face (Important!!! Shout out to you, Rodan+Fields!)

8:10 AM- My coffee and oats are finally at the right temperature. God Bless.

8:15 AM- Simultaneously check Instagram, Twitter, Email, Group Me and Snapchat.

8:35 AM- Go over the plan for the day. Class, class, class, practice, laundry, sorority meeting, study. This is my time to collect myself and find the hours for the exciting stuff, like Target, for example. Speaking of planning, this is the only planner you'll ever need.

8:45 AM- Optional time to brush hair? Always use dry shampoo, and BB cream is a definite.

9:00 AM- Out the door for my 9:15 class.

I noticed when I did my full routine, I was more prepared for class and took more notes. I was happier because I knew I would never be that girl who was always five minutes late. My GPA was better, my skin was better, and my general well-being was better. If you're still doing what I used to do, stop it right now! Seriously, morning routines set up your entire day. If you have a crappy start to the day, the rest of the day will be crappy. But if you have a good start, then the rest of the day will follow that trend!

I like having a routine because everything else... is so unpredictable.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
