Beauty Products to Try This Fall

As a way of combining my love for writing with my Cosmetology license, I decided to put down a few my favorite new beauty products I discovered starting this summer into this fall. As someone who loves trying new beauty products, I'm always looking for new things to try.

1. Babe Lash

I swear by this product now. They might as well be paying me for all the free advertising I’ve been doing. I have next to no eyelashes. I’ve never really had any, and the few I had were thin and short. Now, they’re insanely long.

This product is very easy to use and works within four weeks. After the four weeks, you can continue to use it, just you don’t have to use it as much (daily). After using it myself every day, for four weeks now, the difference is huge. The thickness is exactly where I’d like them to be, but their length is amazing compared to what they were.

The cost of just the small carton was between $30-40, but it was worth it and I plan on purchasing more when need be.

2. MAC eyeshadow

The first time I used this particular product was actually at work and on a bridesmaid getting ready for a wedding. She brought her own makeup and I was ready to go online and buy my own eyeshadow.

My biggest problem with eyeshadow is it being pigmented enough to actually show up on my eyelids. Most of the time the colors I want, I spend an obscene amount of money on and then the color barely shows up on my face. Then, along came this eyeshadow, also pretty expensive, but the color is actually what it looks like on display. If you’re a color type of gal, pick up some MAC eyeshadow and call it a day.

3. H2O Beauty

This is a beauty serum for those who are into skin care (as we all should be). If you’re not already on a daily skin routine, then I’d consider starting with this product. It’s a pure water skin care serum that exfoliates and hydrates (emphasis on hydrates). After initially applying the three steps (there are different options within the brand for your specific skin issues) it feels a bit sticky, but in the morning, I can already feel the difference and the smoothness in my skin. The product is light and easy to apply with a relatively quick result.

However, it is similar to the Babe Lash product, where you have to apply it daily and stick to a strict routine in order to see the best and fastest results. Simply make both of these part of your nightly routines before you hit the hay, and you’ll need less and less makeup. Thanks to these two products, I barely wear foundation anymore and I only really use mascara in my daily makeup routine.

4. Elf Foundation

When I do wear foundation, it’s Elf. Elf is super lightweight and I can barely feel it when it’s on my face. I feel like their skins tone choices are the best fit I have ever had in a foundation. Usually, it’s either too light or too dark and it’s an easy spot that I’m wearing it because I look orange.

Now, I use Elf foundation, and foundation primer, when I do wear foundation because it’s the most natural cover up I have ever used. Also, Elf products are extremely cheap compared to all the other makeup lines. As an added bonus, they don’t test on animals, which most high-end (in quality and price) brands do. All of the products I use are cruelty free. They’re out there, you just have to do a little research first.

5. Colour Pop – Ultra Glossy Lip

I’m not one for lip stick, unless it’s a special occasion or I’m feeling fun. However, when I do wear it I also look for a very pigmented color that actually shows up. This product may be a gloss, but the color shows up like a lip stick. It’s shiny and pretty, and colorful. Plus, it doesn’t seem to come right off like a lot of gloss’ do.

There they are, my beauty choices of the past summer leading into this fall. I wouldn’t have survived without my Babe Lash or H2O in particular. Most of these products I discovered while taking a trip to Ulta ( a favored past time) or through Ipsy, which I joined just for the summer. For $10 a month you get a good amount of samples, which are called sample, but will actually last you quite a while. So, if you’re one of those people who loves trying new beauty products, but can’t stand spending so much money on things you’re not even sure you like, then I’d try Ipsy, or just take my word for it with my favorites which I’ve listed above.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
