The “Battlefront II” Beta has been released for those that pre-ordered it, and I must say, the game is a huge improvement over the last game. And that’s from just 5 matches.
The gameplay is very fluid and balanced. There wasn’t a moment where I thought, “wow that guy killed me cause he’s level 10 and I’m level X.” Which was great. That was an issue in “Battlefront” 2015, where players who had the expansion packs and add on weapons had an edge on players who didn’t. It seems as though they have fixed this, at least for now.
Galactic Assualt is the only mode I have played, and it is such a fun game mode. It reminds me of Operations from “Battlefield 1." The Republic is tasked with taking out the MTT before it gets to the palace. Once that fails they move back into the palace and defend it. While the Separtists are tasked with defending the MTT and taking over the palace. There are also 2 hero’s for each team. Republic has Rey and Han Solo. This will definitely change in the final game. The Separtists have Boba Fett and Darth Maul. The Heroes have also been reworked as well. Heroes can now regenerate health and you can get the heroes by earning Battle Points.
Battle Points is the new system for vehicles and heroes in the game, and it is way better than the pickups that were in the old game. In that game, you would have people camping in the back waiting for the Hero pickup to spawn and jump into it. So you would have the same player coming in as Darth Vader every match and it got old after a while.
The game also brings back Classes, similar to battlefield. You have the Assualt, which is the basic trooper. The Heavy, which comes with a heavy blaster and a shield. The officer, which is the best class in my opinion, comes with nothing to crazy, but it is a good support class. Finally, the specialist comes with a sniper rifle, which is very helpful in the beginning of a match at Theed.
Starfighter assualt is also very well done. From the five minutes I have played, it seems very reminiscent of the original "Battlefront II," which is great. I have yet to play strike, but from what I hear, it is another very fun mode. So far I have no complaints from this game and I can’t wait for the full game and to play the story mode.
"Battlefront II" comes out November 17.
