Going Back To School Doesn't Have To Be So Bad

It might feel scary to transition your life all over again to a new place, and to start the dreaded work load, but instead of focusing on the negatives, remember all the amazing parts about being at college.

Going Back To School Doesn't Have To Be So Bad

Thinking about heading back to school in less than two weeks can be stressful and feel like a lot, but really it's just like moving from one home to another. You may have had an amazing summer with your family and your friends from high school, but going back to school means it's time to be reunited with your college friends. If it's your first time heading to college then starting school may be slightly more nerve-wracking, but try not to worry because even though college is a lot of hard work, it's also a lot of fun.

A good way to handle the stress of the upcoming school year is to stay organized. Make lists of the things you need to do in order to be prepared, shop and pack ahead of time and make sure you prioritize having all your school books. This will eliminate a lot of the annoying pre-college errands you have to do and ensure that when you get to school, the only thing on your mind will be settling in and having fun with your friends. At Rutgers, you can look up your classes on their Barnes and Noble website and the site will direct you to used and new books that your teachers have assigned for each class. You can order them to an address or pick them up at the store, which is on college ave.

Another important priority, in my opinion, is to make sure you are stocked up on all the food you like. College can be tough because the cafeteria food isn't always great and most dorms don't have kitchens. However, if you're prepared with snacks you love and good frozen meals for the microwave, you will never have to worry about suffering through terrible dining hall options or just flat out going hungry.

It might feel scary to transition your life all over again to a new place, and to start the dreaded workload, but instead of focusing on the negatives, if you remember all the amazing parts about being at college, you can make the end of the summer not seem so bad. At college, you are independent, responsible for your own happiness and life choices, and you have the space to be a new person if you want to. College is about you, and doing the things that'll make you happy and successful. So don't stress so much!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
