Artist Spotlight: Lil Skies

Artist Spotlight: Lil Skies

This is not another "Lil" rapper.

If you have not heard of Lil Skies then go on to Spotify and Apple Music and listen to his music. On the surface, he might look like your regular clout rapper. He has face tattoos, smoked weed, and raps about parties and girls, BUT his other tracks talk about his constant hustle and his dedication to his mom who constantly worked to pay their bills. In his interview with Montreality, he discusses his idol a man who was extremely tatted, but walked around like nothing and did not care about the stares he received. On the topic of the law of attraction, Lil Skies stated: "I definitely do believe in this sh-t, if you think positive about something and I feel like it will happen." He mentions manifestation and how he would speak it to the universe and it happened for him. As someone who believes in manifestation and intentions, it was nice to hear that one of my favorite rappers also believes in that and is accomplishing his goals.

Another thing that sets Lil Skies apart is that he keeps to himself on social media. He lets his actions speak for himself and he usually does not start beef with other rappers or talent. Instead, he keeps being consistent with his music by releasing music videos and collaborating with other artists like Wiz Khalifa.

In the same interview, he discusses how he is a very romantic person with significant others, but he is also trying to spoil the other women in his life like his mom, who he gave a present to on stage at one of his concerts. His fans can see how silly he is on funny moment videos about him. But he is also serious about drugs and says that he only smokes weed and does not want to fall victim like other artists.

For Lil Skies it really is all about his music and really showcasing his talent.

8 Reasons You Should Press Confirm On That Concert Ticket Order

Just buy the damn tickets, people.

Ever since I attended my first concert in 2013, I've become obsessed with live music.

There's just something so special to me about finally hearing all those songs you love being performed right in front of you, alongside thousands of other people who love it too.

It brings people together, for that one night, and makes them forget all their worries in the world and just focus on themselves, the people they're surrounded by, the food/drinks that are offered at the venue (I LOVE Chickie's and Pete's crab fries), and of course, the artist/band that's playing.

I'll be going to a concert every month this year up until October so far.

You probably would say I'm crazy, but going to a concert is my absolute favorite thing to do.

I save my money in order to buy tickets to concerts because I just think it's so worthwhile.

Here are five reasons you should attend a concert:

    1. The excitement of something to look forward to

    Rachel Neal

After buying tickets, you almost instantly start counting down the days until the concert. It definitely gives you something fun to look forward to so you don't feel like you're going through the motions of daily routines day after day. Chin up, it'll come sooner than you can imagine!

    2. You get to "dress up"

    Rachel Neal

I LOVE getting creative with my outfits for concerts. It's so fun to go out of your comfort zone a bit and dress up an artist/band tee or simply just dress nicer than you usually do. Some of the best outfits I've ever seen people wear are at concerts. Be unique and show your style!! No one judges in an arena.

    3. Eating ALL the junk food

    Rachel Neal

I love concert food. No shame. I'll get a pizza, crab fries, a hot dog... the list goes on. It's an excuse to treat yourself and eat whatever you want because you're gonna sweat it all out later when you're dancing to some of your favorite songs.

    3. The chance to become a fan of the opening artists

    Rachel Neal

Personally, I like opening artists.... sometimes. Of course all I want is the main act to come out right away, but I do think it's so cool to get to hear a new artist/band you might have never heard before play live. This could lead you to end up really loving the artist, which then could lead you to go to a concert of their own! It's a win-win situation.

    5. You make new friends

    Rachel Neal

Some of the best friends I have at the moment are ones that I made through concerts or through musical artists. Take me and my friend Nina for example. We both sat near each other in the queue line for the Catfish and the Bottlemen concert, I posted a photo after the show and tagged the arena, she saw it and followed me, and we got talking from there.

It's so amazing to make connections through live music, and they turn out to be some of the best people you'll ever meet.

    6. You could get the chance to meet/be close to the artist

    Rachel Neal

It happens when you least expect it. At a Twenty One Pilots concert, I went to recently, the main singer Tyler Joseph popped up in the crowd about 5 rows away from me. I've seen them before, so I knew this would happen, but never would I think it would be near where I was sitting. It was such a cool experience and one I'll never forget, and it makes for some killer concert stories in the future.

    7. You make more memories with your friends

    Rachel Neal

Going to concerts with my friends turned out to be some of the best memories we have together. There's nothing better than dancing and singing along to some of your favorite songs together. It's just truly an unforgettable experience with those who mean a lot to you!

    8. When you're there, all your worries go away

    Rachel Neal

During every single concert I've been to so far, I just let myself get completely lost in the music. It makes me forget everything I'm stressed about so I can just live in the moment and be happy in those few hours that the concert is happening. I would definitely say that going to a concert is the best stress-reliever.

Long story short, attend the concert. Buy the tickets.

    You'll thank yourself later.
