I know what you are thinking, I will actually never use any of these apps and this is a waste of time. Well, I am here to tell you that you're wrong. You will use all of these apps once a week if not multiple times a day and they will make your freshman year so much easier, I promise. So go ahead and download them and get them set up, you will need them before you know it.

Alabama App

This app is an absolute must. It has everything from Laundry to the bus schedule on it. It has your football tickets and all you money information. If you do not get any other apps, make sure you get this one.

BlackBoard

Blackboard shows you all your grades and class announcements. It makes it so easy to keep up with homework and other assignments. Plus, turning on your notifications for the app will let you know when your grades have been posted!

Gmail / Mail

You are going to get over 20 emails a day. You need a way to be able to consistently check your email. Get one of these two, they will tell you everything going on at UA at all times.

DUO

You have to get DUO, it is not an option. It is required by the university and honestly its annoying at first but you will get used to it.

UA Safety App

This app is helpful not only for all the updates about campus safety, but if you ever need help finding a building, this is the app to use. It will map it for you and even knows building abbreviations.

348 Ride

This is our free on-campus Uber. Trust me you are going to need this at some point because no one wants to walk across campus, but it also takes you one mile off campus, and yes they go to Cook Out.

Uber / Lyft

348 is limited in where it can go but uber isn't. If you do not have a car I recommend this because you are going to need to go off campus at some point.

Facebook

The Alabama Student Ticket Exchange page will save your life not only when you need football tickets but if you are looking for clothes, furniture, or anything. Literally ANYTHING

Coursicle

This app helps you track classes that are full and will notify you when a new seat becomes available.

Tapingo

Tapingo is a food app. You just place your order on your way to class and can stop by and pick it up. It automatically pays for your food and you get to skip the line.

Headspace

This app is super helpful when you are stressed or just need a minute. It helps you to calm down and meditate. If you are having trouble sleeping or just need a minute to relax this app is perfect for that. Trust me, you will be under a lot of stress your freshman year.

Crimson2Go / Waiter

Some more food apps!!! What everyone loves! These apps have all your favorite restaurants in Tuscaloosa and all you do is order your food through the app and they deliver it right to your door.

Groupme

You will use this at some point. Whether it is for a class, study group, club, or on-campus organization. You will use it, I promise.

Google Docs / Drive

You are going to be submitting a lot of stuff online. it is best to have it backed up and somewhere you have easy access to.

Spotify

Spotify offers a student discount and free Hulu. What more do I need to say.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
