The idea of looking youthful is something everyone will eventually care about because I mean, no one wants wrinkles, or frown lines, or crow's feet. Being 18 years old, I have never paid much attention other than to be conscious of wearing moisturizer and sunscreen as much as possible. However, the other day I was scrolling through my Twitter feed and saw this viral video of actress, Angela Bassett, at the Emmy's. I had no idea that she was 60 years old! She looks fantastic for her age, like I really want to know her secrets. Anyways, I began to think about all the women in Hollywood who also look way younger than they are and what their secrets are, so here's a list!

1. Julianne Moore

Julianne is 57 years old and still looks flawless. Her beauty secret is actually to keep her hair long. As women age, they seem to cut their hair shorter (I have no idea why), but she says it makes her look feminine and younger. She also recommends wearing sunscreen every day to avoid spots and wrinkles. Apparently, she has been wearing sunscreen every day since she was 23 years old!

2. Demi Moore

Demi is 55 years old and swears by hydrating her skin! She uses a special night cream before she goes to bed and even makes moisturizing masks every once in a while. She also recommends to always take your makeup off before you go to sleep to allow your skin to breathe. That is something that I swear by, I don't care how tired I am, the makeup ALWAYS comes off.

3. Viola Davis

Viola is 53 years old and her beauty trick is actually kind of weird. Apparently, she rubs Crisco, the solid vegetable shortening, all over her face to get rid of dry skin. I don't know if I would do this tip since I have pretty oily skin, but if you do try this, please let me know the outcome! I mean, Viola looks great so you should too.

4. Jennifer Aniston

Jen is only 49 (shh... she'll be 50 next year, it still counts) and she is very much against the plastic surgery route. However, she does believe in using laser treatment and LED light therapy to tighten her facial muscles. That can be pricey, so she also recommends using high-quality skin products, drinking a lot of water, and getting a good amount of sleep!

5. Jennifer Lopez

Another woman who is also 49 (49 is so close to 50, give me a break), JLo really recommends working out to look younger! She says that working out is a priority and trust me, we can all tell. I mean, have you seen her abs? Also, she recommends using anti-aging creams and taking the makeup off before bed too.

6. Halle Berry

I seriously believe that she is aging backwards, but Halle recommends not to start using anti-aging products so early in life. Rather, she just does a simple skincare routine of just cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. She also recommends doing cardio and using light weights to stay in shape!

7. Sandra Bullock

Sandra looks fantastic every time I see her in the media. Her secret? It's pretty normal actually. She exercises six days out of the week and does something like pilates or kickboxing. Then, she allows herself one cheat day a week. The secret to her skin? Stay out of the sun as much as possible.

8. Salma Hayek

Salma's secret is one we mentioned previously. She told InStyle Magazine, "I've never gone to bed without washing my face. Never in my life. Even if I'm sick, tired—heck, even if I was drunk! I might forget to take off the dress, the shoes, and the jewelry, but not the makeup. It's second nature."

9. Sarah Jessica Parker

The stunning 53 year old swears by washing her face before going to bed! Even if she is super tired, she makes sure to wash her face. Or at least, have her husband remind her. She also is always wearing moisturizer and lip balm.

10. Christie Brinkley

I honestly cannot believe Christie is over 50, but her secret is that every morning she makes her own concoction of juice. She just blends a lot of fruits and veggies together. I mean, it has to work, look at her!

11. Nicole Kidman

The woman swears by sunscreen! After this article, I feel like a lot of people are gonna be purchasing more of it.

12. Julia Roberts

Did you know that Julia was named World's Most Beautiful Woman in 2017? Well, her beauty secret is all about her diet: lean proteins, like salmon, grilled chicken, and eggs; healthy produce, like berries and avocados; and complex carbs, like brown rice. Roberts is also sure to drink at least eight glasses of water each and every day.

13. Mariska Hargitay

We all love the SVU star but what is her secret? Exercise. I know, how boring. Wrong! Mariska tries to do exercise that does not involve the gym. She does short exercise videos in her dressing room, knee bends on a ballet bar, and even jumps on the trampoline with her son!

14. Andie Macdowell

Andie loves eating fresh fruits and veggies, especially ones from her garden. Some of her favorites are tomatoes, squash, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

15. Brooke Shields

Brooke, who looks fabulous, recommends to stop pulling and tugging on your skin when you apply moisturizer and makeup. She said her mom always told her to, "Be gentle with your face."

16. Vanessa Williams

Vanessa does openly mention her use of Botox, however, she is also a big fan of pilates and dance classes to stay in shape!

17. Oprah Winfrey

https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-gospel-according-to-oprah-1517918139?mod=e2twmag&tesla=y

C'mon, we all love Oprah. She says that her hair is something that she believes makes her look youthful. She believes in not using heat more than three days a week. Gotta keep that healthy hair!

These women are absolutely stunning and it amazes me how they look so young for their age. These tips and tricks, some more common, others kind of strange, must be working because, I mean, look at the proof! But if you learned anything, it is: drink water, eat healthy, exercise, wear sunscreen, moisturize, and always go to bed with a clean face!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
