An Open Letter To My Sister Who Is Also My Best Friend

I may not like you all the time, but I still love you.

An Open Letter To My Sister Who Is Also My Best Friend

First of all, I want to say thank you. Some say that the older siblings help raise the younger ones, and this rings true for us. But not in the same way as a parent raises a child. You never had to make sure there was food and a roof over my head since that is the role of our parents. But you did help raise me by always being there for me. There is not a single person I know who would drop everything they had to help me, except you. And I would do the same for you.

I would not want to imagine what my childhood would have looked like if you weren't there. Thank you for always being my playmate. Thank you for telling me stories when I was younger and couldn't sleep. Mom used to always group us together, like our birthday parties, clothes, toys. We were almost treated like twins, even though we are two years apart. I remember whenever we went on vacations, it would always be me and you since we stuck together. We would go everywhere together and do everything together. And I wouldn't change any of it. I am so thankful for all the childhood memories we have together.

I would also not want to imagine what my adulthood life would look like if you weren't here. Even though you are older than me, I love watching you grow up and become the person you are meant to be. I get so proud of you when you accomplish something. We both have our own ups and downs, but I am so thankful that you are always there. I sometimes think of you as my free therapist because I really describe all my problems to you and you advise me or just listen. And no matter what, those talks are always beneficial, even if we disagree.

I just want to say how incredibly proud I am of you. Our lives were never easy from the start, with losing dad and then moving away from our friends and family. Most things were always unstable when I was growing up, but never you. I am beyond grateful for you being my rock and someone I can look up to. You have achieved so much already and you are only 21. I cannot wait to see what you do in the future, just know that I will always be right here for you. I love you sis!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
