Dear Dog Fighters,
What possesses your mind to think that it is okay to take a dog of a particular breed, particularly the pit bull breed, to train to fight to the death against other dogs? Have you no conscience? No compassion? Do you not realize what you are doing when you release your dog onto another, watching as they tear each other into pieces?
Because of your sick form of amusement, pit bulls are labeled as one of the most aggressive dogs in the world. Because you force them to fight to the death, they are seen as extremely aggressive and dangerous. They are not allowed in most places due to their "danger". They are branded as evil and harmful, even though most of them would never even harm a fly.
Those of us who find the pit bull breeds extremely misunderstood and completely gorgeous animals have a difficult time to try and give them homes. Many states have ordinances against the breeds, making it so that if someone were to own a pit bull, they have to fill out piles of paper work, which gives the state permission to seize and euthanize the dog if they feel it is necessary. If they wanted to walk their pit, they have to use a leash of a specific length and have a muzzle on it. What kind of life is that for a dog?
Many of these dogs end up in shelters because no one wants a dog that's "aggressive" and "dangerous". They fear for themselves and their children without even considering the fact that the dog may, in fact, not be aggressive at all. The shelters that these dogs go to are mostly kill shelters, meaning that if animals are not adopted after a certain period of time, they are euthanized. There are studies that estimate up to 1 million pit bulls are euthanized per year in the US. That's roughly 2,800 pits a day!
This is all because of you. You "train" these dogs to be aggressive and fight until they can hardly stand anymore. What you call training, I, along with many others, call extreme abuse. Because of your extreme blood lust, many innocent dogs have lost their lives. Dog fighting is illegal in most, if not all, states in the US. So just keep on breaking the law, keep on taking the lives of beautiful and innocent dogs, you will get what you deserve in the end.
Sincerely,
A Speaker for Pits.
