  1. “Quit saying you’ll do it later. Do it now.”- Katherine Waters, Senior.
  2. “I would say that while some people need a while before declaring their major, that is not the case for everyone. I wish I had declared the second I knew instead of hesitating and being afraid of making a mistake. Go for what your passion is.”- Chris Paschal, Senior.
  3. “Get help sooner rather than later.”- Kate Gibson, Senior.
  4. “Go to bed early, get in a routine, and get involved with as much as you can”- Madison Jones, Senior.
  5. “To make the most of your experience at Wofford. I would say to go to more events and be more involved in clubs even if I think I won’t enjoy them. I would encourage myself to take calculated risks, especially in social situations, and to not let me shyness hold me back.”- Peggy Payne
  6. “Use your skips.” Martha Scott Alford
  7. “Don’t dry your nice shirts in the Marsh dryers or they will shrink and you will be upset. Group dinners are a great study break and they are lots of fun! Prioritize your health (good sleep and lots of water!) so that you don’t have to go to nurse Tami all the time- even though she is so nice!”- Mary McDonald, Senior
  8. “Don't count someone out as a friend just because they don't have everything together freshman year. More than likely, everyone is going to change from freshman year. So keep an open mind to who you may not be friends with at the beginning. You never know, the crazy, party girl next door may be your best friend come senior year.”- Shannon Dwyer, Senior.
  9. “Don’t be upset when you don’t get the grade you want in a class that doesn’t even go with your major.”- Paxton Stewart
  10. “Investing in people is so important because there is a lot more change in these four years than you realize. Without those people, it’s easy to get lost.”- Patrick Longest

Freshman. Your time in college goes by so fast. Cherish every moment that you have here, because it goes by in the blink of an eye. Another piece of advice is this: loveeveryone. You’re going to encounter so much in your college career, but being open to other people is something that will carry you so far. Also, have fun. Go to the football games. Go to cookout at 1am with your best friend. Sit with someone who looks like they may need a friend. Work out to make yourself feel better. Have fun with the small amount of time you have here, because before you know it, you will be in our place, wanting to give the same advice to the classes below you. Best of luck, class of 2020. Enjoy it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
