To people who don’t know Fordham, being in the Bronx sounds intimidating. But Fordham students know that there is so much to do near our campus, that it just adds to why we love our school. Last week, I gave a comprehensive list of where to eat near Fordham, so here is a list of what to do near Fordham.
1. If you are a visitor or have someone visiting, walk around campus
Sometimes it’s easy to forget how rare Fordham is. In the middle of the Bronx, we have this oasis of lawns and beautiful gothic buildings. Take time to appreciate its beauty. Honestly, one of my favorite things ever is sitting on Eddie’s on a nice day.
2. Prince Coffee House
When coming to Fordham, I saw there was a Starbucks nearby and thought I was set. But all the way down Arthur, 2306 Arthur Ave, is Prince Coffee House. Prince is very different than the rest of Arthur Ave, with more of a city coffee house feel. It a great place to sit with friends or do homework. In good weather, they have outdoor seating.

4. Bronx Zoo
This was one of my favorite places growing up, and even though I’m almost 20, I still love it. The zoo is so much fun to visit with friends, especially if you have someone visiting.
5. The Botanical Gardens
With Fordham IDs, you can get in here for free. Having a ticket here also gives you access to the Cloisters, if you have a whole day to spare, this is highly recommended. But if you’re just looking for a way to spend an hour or afternoon, a walk in the “Botans” is very fun and relaxing. In nice weather, my friends and I take the short walk over here and explore. In every trip we find a new section we had never seen before.
6. Bronxville
This town is a short Metro North ride away and has so many fun activities. There is a nail salon, Soul Cycle, and a diner that everyone loves. Going here is a great way to spend the afternoon.
7. New York City
Part of the appeal to Fordham is how close we are to Manhattan—just 20 minutes by Metro North. Take advantage of the close proximity to greatest city in the world!
