Autumn officially starts on Friday, September 22. I am so excited for the cooler days, home-cooked meals, and all the fall festivities. So here are 9 ways to prepare for the upcoming Fall season.

1. Get out those warmer clothes

leggings, scarves, sweaters, vests, fuzzy socks. Got to have all the fall necessities.

2. Dust off the boots

3. Purchase all the Pumpkin Spice foods

Pumpkin Spice creamer, coffee, doughnuts, ice cream, marshmallows, Oreos, pop tarts, etc. Eat it all.

4. Also Apples

Apple pie, apple fritters, apple cider, apple cider doughnuts, caramel apples, candied apples. You can even go apple picking. I love apples.

5. Buy a few pumpkins

6. Catch up on some reading

Fall is really the best time snuggle up with a good book.

7. Bust out the warm colors

Fall is approaching, nows the time to dye your hair a warm brown or red. Maybe paint your nails a pretty autumn color or try a new shade of lipstick.

8. Start your Halloween prep.

Halloween is naturally a part of fall so now is the time to plan your costume, start watching the Halloween movies, and buy your candy corn.

9. Watch the leaves turn

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
