9 Things To Make Time For This Summer

Summer is finally here! Public schools, colleges, and universities are out, the weather is warm, the pools are finally starting to open, and the fruity drinks are flying. A lot of people love summer but most people always end up doing the same old stuff. Why not make this summer a little different and exciting? Here are a few awesome things that you should definitely consider doing this summer!

1. Go find the nearest body of water.

Water is an amazing thing and you can do so much with it. Go visit a body of water this summer whether it is a lake, an ocean, a river, or something else. Go swimming and fishing. Lie on the beach or go for a boat ride. There are so many things that you can do once you hit the water. Go visit one and enjoy yourself!

2. Go on a vacation

This one is very self-explanatory but it is important. The routine day-to-day life can be very stressful. Going on a vacation will allow you to get away from all of the stress of your everyday life. You can decompress, recharge, and give yourself a mental and emotional makeover. It does not hurt that vacations are also fun if you make it be.

3. Find a movie drive in.

This one can be very challenging because there are not many drive-in theatres around today. If you are up for it and able to find one that is near to you, it is worth driving out for a couple of hours. There is something about it that is fun just lying down on your car or the bed of your truck while you watch a movie on a big screen. It is an experience that will not be around for much longer, so I would recommend trying this at least once.

4. Have a BBQ.

Fire up the grill and the smoker because it is summer! There is no better way than to have a BBQ and invite your friends and family over. It is a fun time and it is a great way to bond with the people you care about. BBQ is also very delicious and with all other activities you will be doing, it will be easy to keep off the weight as well.

5. Go for a picnic.

It may seem old-fashioned but a picnic can still be a lot of fun. Put some of your favorite foods in a basket or a cooler, go find a nice spot somewhere, plop down, and have a meal. Take your friends, family, or your significant other along and make an experience that you will remember.

6. Watch some fireworks.

Fireworks are so fascinating to watch! The colorful display lights up in the night sky and the eyes of all of those that are watching. Many of the firework shows have displays that are timed to music. Even though you are not a child anymore, fireworks can make you feel like a kid again.

7. Spend time with friends and family.

The best way to make the most of the summer is to spend quality time with your family and friends. Summer is an awesome time to "make memories" that will last a lifetime. During the summer, the days are longer, which allows us more time to be outdoors.

8. Take photos.

It is always good to remember the special moments we make each day. How much better when we can have that memory in a photo! Summer is an awesome time to take photos!

9. Stargaze.

Every once in awhile, I like to gaze into the skies above me and see all of the stars. Laying on a blanket under a starry sky is not just romantic but it is also very relaxing. Hot summer nights offer us the opportunity to do this. Enjoy the vastness of the skies.

You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
