Thanks to global warming, the harsh winter weather has held off until now. Every year, before it gets too cold, I get excited about the changing of seasons, sweater weather, and the chance of a few snow days. But, then the temperature drops and the winds pick up and I have to actually walk around campus in the biting cold and I remember how much I love the warmer weather.

Personally, I always struggle with what to wear in the winter because as cold as it is outside, the higher the heat is set on the inside. It's a real Sophie's choice when you have to choose between being freezing outside but comfortable inside or being warm outside and dying of heat during class. Here are the 9 stages of going to class when it's unbearably cold outside.

1. Checking the weather app

Your alarm goes off and you roll over to answer your Snapchats, check your email, and of course check the weather. 28 degrees? You try to remember how cold 28 actually is as you lie in bed for another 10 minutes.

2. Text your friends

You immediately text any of your friends who are already awake and grabbing coffee or going to class to see what the weather actually feels like and what you should consider wearing

3. Stare at your closet

You swing open your closet and assess your options. You could rock that thick new oversized sweater, but will you die of heat stroke in your Statistics class? You consider a short sleeve top but wonder if you'll contact hyperthermia on your walk to class. You decide layers is key, and go with a short sleeve top with a cardigan and your big winter jacket.

4. Getting ready to leave

You look at yourself in the mirror and decide you'll be fine, 28 degrees isn't that bad right?

5. First steps out the door

You open the door and immediately get attacked by the wind and low temperature. You forget how to breathe for a second and your eyes immediately begin to water from the cold.

6. Think about turning back

You immediately realize just how far your class is and begin to consider skipping class just to stay in your warm room.

7. Braving the cold

You decide if someone can climb Mt. Everest, you can make it to class. So you march onward and hope no one thinks you're crying from those watery eyes.

8. Hot and Cold

You begin your journey freezing, but about halfway to your class, you start to simultaneously sweat from the walk and from your layers. This must be what purgatory feels like.

9. You make it

You finally make it to your building and climb the four floors to your class. You're sweating bullets and are thankful for those layers. You sit there and wonder how hated you would be for asking to turn on the AC in the middle of February.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
