At this point in the year, I’m absolutely sick of this heat. Especially this midwest weather. One week it’s in the mid-sixties, now it’s in the upper 90s. Make-up your mind weather, I want to be able to wear a sweater without dying of heat stroke come the afternoon. Is that asking for too much?

Even with this extended summer, fall will always be my favorite season. My mom does have pretty good decorations for the every season (now that I've admitted that she won't ever let me live it down) but I love when she decorates for fall because it makes coming home all that cozier. Especially the fall scented candle she uses, I adore the candles she uses throughout the house.

With fall finally here, I conjured up a few of my favorite things about fall getting that is getting me through this heat.

1.The weather

Cooler temperatures versus the heat is something I will take over anything at this point in the year. And mosquitos, sick of those annoying little bugs too.

2. Changing of the leaves

When I begin to see the leaves start to change colors I get so excited because all I can think about are the different colors I’m about to see adorn the trees. I just absolutely adore fall leaves.

3. Fall fashion

I like to buy ten times more than I what I need when it comes to fall wear because everything is ten times cuter. Especially shoes, nothing beats a new pair of shoes.

4. Pumpkin carving

I love looking for the perfect pumpkin, then being able to cut and carve a cute face on it versus my friend who's more crafty than me.

5. Daylight savings

Counting down the days until I gain that extra hour of sleep.

6. Halloween

Who doesn’t love Halloween? My roommate and I already have Halloween decor up in our room and we are living.

7. Orchards

Pumpkin and apple picking, what more could you ask for? And let’s not forget apple cider donuts, so delicious.

8. Pumpkin Spice

Already bought mine for my Keurig along with a new fall cup because I’m basic like that.

9. Halloween movies

Disney channel original Halloween movies are to live for the entire month of October. Nothing tops marathoning Disney’s Halloween movies.

Even though this inconsistent weather has me less than happy, there are still plenty of reasons to love fall (which is getting me through until the weather stays cool). And to everyone still experiencing the heat of summer, we can through this together.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
