The Source

This upcoming election has made me realize a lot of things. Among other things, I realize that history could be made in November with the election of our first woman president. While this, in and of itself, is an amazing feat; we are faced with a peculiar situation. For the first time since our country's inception we might have a married president, but no first lady. Because of this, I am becoming very nostalgic of our current first lady. While still being a popular figure, she will no longer be the most important woman in my country. Here are some of the reasons I will miss having her represent our country in many different facets.

1. She holds a historical place in our country

Not only is she a part of the first black family in the White House, she is one of only three first ladies to have a master's degree.

2. She treats every child like her own

Most of her time in the White House has been spent trying to better the lives of children in America. From improving their diets to teaching them how to garden, she welcomes children into her home and wants to make their lives better.

3. She's funny

She made an appearance in a Funny or Die video, perhaps with my favorite line of the whole thing. On top of that, her facial expressions (which she has no intention to hide) give her life and personality.

4. She is an amazing mom

Sasha and Malia have grown up in the spotlight, but thanks to "Mom" they both have jobs and are learning to support themselves. Sasha is working at a restaurant, at least for the summer, and Malia has had a few internships before she begins her education at Harvard in 2017. They are learning to provide for themselves, no matter what their parents do.

5. She is very VERY intelligent

She's one of only 3 first ladies with a master's degree, as aforementioned. She graduated magna cum laude from Princeton and she has a law degree from Harvard. If this isn't intelligence to you, your standards are too high.

6. She knows how to dress

Having a place in this spotlight means having everything about you be under a microscope. Since her husband's inauguration, she has been a fashion icon in this country, much like former first ladies. Even prior to her life in the spotlight, she knew how to dress!

7. She is strong despite her place in society

Despite being of color and growing up in a blue-collar household sharing the living room as sleeping quarters with her brother, she made it to Princeton, Harvard, and a Chicago law firm all on her own. She loves herself and is proud of what she has achieved all on her own.

8. She's beautiful inside and out

Every woman is beautiful on the outside, but she redefined beauty with her grace and poise. She showed us all how you can be beautiful and care about every person regardless of your relationship with them.

9. She's an amazing woman and role model

You can be beautiful. You can be strong. You can be intelligent. You can be funny. You can love everyone. You can be all of those no matter your place in this world. Thanks to Michelle Obama, we know you can be all of those at the same time and do it in style. Girls across the world look up to her and will continue for years to come.

Thank you Michelle Obama for being amazing, inspiring and a role model for me as I enter into adulthood.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
