9 Reasons You Need A Purrfect Friend

Don't let a cat fool you, they want to be loved too.

9 Reasons You Need A Purrfect Friend

Most recently, I adopted a kitten from my local animal shelter and it was the best decision I ever made. Okay, a little exaggeration, but if you love cats, you know what I mean. So with that being said, I thought I would try and convince you all that your life is simply boring without a cat.

1. You will forever have a cuddle buddy.

I mean look at that face! Cats love to be warm and cozy which means they will never turn down a reason to wind themselves up in the blankets next to you. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing "purrr" satisfaction on this little, spotty face. Plus, they will keep you cozy too!

2. They are big into reduce, reuse, recycle.

Cats are highly concerned about the environment. They don't understand why you would throw away perfectly good paper. Looks comfy right? With a pat of the paper, this cat will come running out of anywhere in the house. I can only imagine how strange other cats are with paper.

3. They are a built-in morning alarm.

Every single morning they will make sure that you don't forget to feed them. With a short, sweet yelp, you will be jumping out of bed as they are pouncing on everything on their way to the kitchen. Right as you try to bend down and scoop them up, they run away. Talk about saying, "Okay, okay, I am awake." It's not like you can sleep when you hear things falling off your shelf in the closet. Why set an alarm when they've got it all under control.

4. They are always down for a nap.

Do I need to say more? On average, a cat sleeps 16 hours a day! I wish I had that time to just lay around. They don't have to take people's judgment. They just simply go with it and take another nap.

5. They're great at maintaining boundaries.

I'm sure that cats are always thinking, "Human, don't come any closer." If you don't like clingy pets, then a cat is for you. They don't feel the need to smother you with their love because they only have so much to share. It's always going to be their way or the highway. When they have had enough, a simple paw will come swinging your way to say, "Stop."

6. They look flawless in selfies.

Tell me this face does not have "I love life" written all over it. They don't want you to think they enjoy their picture being taken, but in all reality, they low key like the limelight. They know their own worth and they want the world to see it. If you like taking selfies and have high self-confidence, then why not add a cute, furry friend to the party.

7.They let you know what they want and when they need it.

Cats make great friends because they are self-sufficient. They are going to grab your attention when they want to feel loved. Otherwise, you can just let them chill and eat until their heart is content. When you head out the door in the morning you don't have to wonder if they're going to miss you or not because odds are they couldn't care less.

8. They're always down for a game.

They will turn anything into a game. Want to pet your cat? Nope, sorry not today. They rather just sit in a box and think about life. When they aren't pondering their deepest thoughts you can see them sprinting laps around your living room floor at the lovely hour of 2 a.m. Just think of it as free entertainment!

9. They are truly magical because after all, they do have nine lives.

Cats deserve more respect than what they get. Yes, I said it, they are the pinnacle of a good day. They are definitely misunderstood in their own way. They aren't going to claw your face off while you are sleeping. You might find them standing over you yelling, "MEOW", but never will lay more than a soft, furry paw on your forehead. Cats simply want us, humans, to learn to love them with our eyes. We all know what they are thinking, pet me with your eyes and not your grimy human hands. K? Thanks.

Are you convinced that you need a cat yet? They're the best furry friends around town. Nothing is better than being greeted with a sweet, little "meow." Remember, if you're going to get a furry friend of any kind, adopt! Save a life and show them the best life they could have ever imagined. Now go and get yourself a cat!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
