I always feel like I should be doing something. Or at least learning how to do something. It's partially why I love summer.

The freedom to do anything. Yet, sometimes I run out of ideas (or steam).

That's why I'm going to compile this list of stuff I could be doing. So when I run out of ideas, I will come back to this list and begin to attack it.

You can use it too I guess.

1. Learn to Knit

Hell yeah! Let's do this!

Everyone loves a dope blanket or hat, and when you made it, you earn so many style points.

Super easy gifts too. You can even make them out of super dumb colors and force your friends to wear them because they're 'made with love'.

Oh, you're not sold on knitting yet? Well how about this! Its CHEAP.

You need like two ingredients, needles, and yarn. Like, come on.

2. Take “Fighting” Classes

I'm being broad here because it doesn't really matter which one you do.

Also because there are like so many kinds.

Karate, T'ai Chi, Wing Chung, Kenpo, Ninjitsu, Judo, etc. Hell, take some boxing lessons.

It is a great way to get rid of some pent up energy and also stay in shape.

Also next time you get mugged you can be like, "yo, i'm gonna beat you up'. And then you beat them up.

3. Learn to Garden

Now I have to tell you. You may need dirt for this one.

BUT, dirt is awesome. When you come home, dirty AF, you feel like you've done something.

You can also eat what you make. It's like an at home farmers market. Who doesn't love a good farmers market?!

Not to mention you will definitely be ready for the zombie envision. Just get you a strong fence and start a garden. You're welcome.

4. Get to Baking

Not that Tole House stuff. No No No!

Get in there and start from scratch. That's the way to do it.

Maybe start with cookies and move to brownies. Then go on to some crazy stuff. Pies, Baklava. You know. That good stuff.

A good friend of mine once said that no quarrel was too great for pastries. Give that a try.

Get into a big fight, then bake the other person something. See if it works!

5. Read a Classic Novel

There is a reason that these books are called classic and still read today.

Here is a list.

Here is another.

Here is a funny one.

6. Learn to Bartend

It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just something to get by.

Have some friends over and tend bar. Make a bunch of drinks. Then record your friends being idiots. It's a lot fun.

Also it makes you a much more informed drinker. You can order drinks like a pro.

7. Start Cooking (Ya Dingus)

No more mac & cheese for you. Get that old cookbook you never opened and go to town!

Find the recipes that look the craziest and start there. Really challenge yourself by trying something you never would have thought of.

Then you can really surprise your family or friends with some awesome food.

8. Bring Them All Together!

These things may look lonely, but all of them can be done with family, friends, or a significant other.

Throw a huge party and show off all your new skills!

But don't forget to have fun!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
