8 Things To Do Over Fall Break

In order to recover from the madness that is midterms.

Most schools offer a pre-Thanksgiving break, deemed "Fall Break". This break doesn't hold any holidays nor special occasions, however it provides students with a chance to go home and see some friends and family for a short amount of time. Since I'm a student who loves returning home at any chance I get, I've already begun making plans for what I want to accomplish over fall break.

1. See Your Family

I don't just mean mom and dad; take time to see your grandparents and cousins, they miss you just as much! While they'll be seeing you shortly for Thanksgiving, it's nice to check in with them and catch up with each other.

2. Hang Out With Friends

Your friends miss you too! If you're lucky enough to have a break at the same time, set up plans to see each other for a night! Even if it's just catching dinner and a movie, it's nice to see some familiar faces.

3. Get A Haircut

While at school, you most likely don't have your favorite salon in close proximity, so take this break as an opportunity to get a haircut or get your eyebrows done.

4. Visit Your Favorite Places

Whether it's your favorite hometown restaurant, favorite store, or favorite park, take a day to reminisce on the places you grew up around. I guarantee you'll be overwhelmed by glorious nostalgia.

5. Restyle Your Wardrobe

Not necessarily in terms of buying a record-breaking amount of clothes, but switch out some of your warmer outfits for layers and sweaters that you left at home in the Summer. This will free up some closet space at school and make it easier to access comfortable outfits until the Spring.

6. Treat Your Family

Your family spends a lot of time worrying about you at college and probably sending you money when your bank account hits zero every now and then. This is a great opportunity to give back and take them out to dinner, provided that you have the funds to do so, or even just help out around the house. After all, they support you and there's no excuse not to return the favor.

7. Catch Up On Work

Fall Break provides a very convenient opportunity to catch up on any projects, homework, or studying you may have neglected while at school. Take a day to get some of that done and relieve a bit of stress that would otherwise lie on your shoulders the minute you return to school.

8. RELAX

At the point that Fall Break rolls around, it's about mid-semester. This means midterms, huge projects, and massive amounts of stress. You deserve a break too! Don't feel guilty about lounging around for a day or so, sipping hot cider and watching Hocus Pocus a couple of times. After all, once you get back to school you're forced to kick it back into gear and get into study-mode ASAP.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
