8 Things Incoming Freshman Need To Know
Welcome to college

College is just around the corner and I know from experience, that some freshmen are terrified. So I decided to give some advice, to hopefully help those freshmen who are nervous about coming to college and ease the nerves.

1. Being on your own is scary at first, but your family is only a phone call away.

I missed my family so much when I was away from home, but thankfully, they were only an hour away. Make time to call your Mom, Dad and siblings to tell them about your day. From experience, I know that it means a lot to them.

2. Never go on a walk alone, always have a friend with you!

If you ever go on a walk, make sure you have someone or even pepper spray with you! Most of all, make sure you are walking on the good sides of town.

3. Try something new!

Do not be afraid to get out there and try something new! Getting involved with campus can open so many new doors!

4. Make time to eat and eat wisely.

Always, ALWAYS make time to eat. Even if you have a busy schedule, always make time to eat. Also, when going to the dining hall eat wisely, the freshman fifteen is very real.

5. Always, ALWAYS! Bring your keys with you

Take it from me, NEVER forget your keys. I have been locked out of my room countless times and had to call my roommate or find an RA to let me into the building. Wherever you go, take your keys.

6. Make time to study!

Trust me, in the end, it helps so much. Studying makes you less stressed and more prepared.

7. Know that it is OK to not be OK

College is not easy. There are moments where all you want to do is cry, just know that it is okay not to be okay. There are people who are there for you and it will always get easier.

8. Enjoy every moment!

Enjoy every minute of freshman year, there will be good times, and bad times. Just enjoy every single moment.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
