8 Subscription Boxes For The "Hard to Shop For"

With the holidays fast approaching, there is a lot on one's mind. "What am I going to do for them?" "Who is going to be around", and my personal favorite- "What do I get the hardest person to shop for?" Many people struggle with this question, since there is at least one person in everyone's family that fit that category. Well there's a solution to this...Subscription Boxes. Below are my top picks for subscription boxes for both everyone to enjoy!

1. Pusheen Box

Okay, so I am a little biased since I did in fact try this box out. You have to like/love Pusheen though to really appreciate the box. Generally they send a seasonal vinyl figurine every box, an article of clothing (or shoes) and some other seasonally themed items. I've gotten coasters, a sweater, tea cup, pen, etc from one box. The winter box was definitely my favorite since it had lights, a scarf and mitten set, an on the go canteen, and a tea infuser. Point being, you can order the box just once, plans start at $39.95/box, or you can do a yearly subscription which provides your loved one a unique Pusheen themed box every 3 months. Well worth it since in every box you get over $100.00 worth of product.

2. Snack Crate!

I have also been guilty of trying this box. How it works: you buy a box (for yourself or as a gift) and every month arrives a box [small, medium, large- again your preference and monetary availability] full of snacks from a particular country. From the Israel to Canada you can get 5, 10-12, or 18-20+ snacks per crate at your door monthly. Starter boxes begin around $15.00 but can be on sale during special times during the year (cough, now - Cyber Monday cough)! Definitely a cool present for a foodie who likes to experience the globe but doesn't want to pay all that money on a plane ticket ;)

3. Sephora Play!

For $10 a month, send your beauty guru the gift of makeup! Or other products similar. Every month is different and they do provide usually a themed set of about 5 items. Novembers box was all about "pampering myself" which they sent a clay mask, lipstick, mascara, perfume sample and Moroccan hair oil. All pretty decent sized items as well, conveniently wrapped in a cloth drawstring pouch. Well worth the $10/month.

4. Dollar Shave Club

For the guy in your life, or the woman who refuses to pay for "pink" products. We all know that women's products are way more expensive than guys products. One can choose their best plan ranging from $1-$9. You can choose whether or not to include shaving materials, oral care, shower gels, hair styling materials, or even butt wipes. You can customize to your favorite guy in your life.

5. Loot Crate!

This appears to be one of the most customizable "mystery" crates out there. You can choose TV series like Firefly, Video game, Pop culture, and even apparel crates. YOU CAN EVEN GET ONE FOR YOUR NERDY DOGGO! You can choose from 1 ($37.99/crate), 3 ($35.99/crate) or 6 ($33.99/crate) crates delivered to your loved one. Each box's contents value over $65.00 and contain 5-7 licensed and exclusive products. Well worth the money too, to be honest.

6. The NICK box!

For those 90s kids who still want to relive the great times of Hey Arnold, Rugrats etc. Each box is filled with nostalgic goodies that your loved one will treasure like vinyl toys, plush, apparel, household collectibles and much more! Each quarter you receive a different theme loaded with exclusive items that can only be found in this box! You can choose to do a one box at a time approach which makes each box cost $49.99 each, or you can prepay for the whole year which makes each box cost $45.99.

7. The Cravory

This. Subscription. Box. Sends. Cookies... That is all. You can choose to send your loved one a box of mixed flavors of cookies for $25.95 and the company who is based in San Diego will send Birthday Cake, Chocolate Chip, Almond Joyous, Lemon Bar, Salted Caramel Cream and Red Velvet cookies to the person's door. They look quite yummy and their reviews are 4.8 out of 5 and have had 30+ people review them. PLUS! As soon as you place the order, they are baked fresh and shipped next day delivery. Can't get any better than that!

8. Taste Trunk

This box is more on the pricey side, with the boxes being currently on sale for $99.00 for 3 boxes a year (or as many as 6 a year, $198.00 which still comes up to $33.00/box). They are full of either gourmet, sweet, healthy, or BBQ themed items for your loved one. They look pretty all-inclusive, from glazes to marinades and scone mixes, each box comes with a recipe book from real chefs to inspire looking at cooking with different eyes. Coming from a hobby chef and full-time foodie, this looks like a great box.

These are just some of the potential things you can purchase for those people who claim to be "hard to buy for". This might be their favorite gift they received this year, or ever!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
