8 Reasons Why City Life is the Best Life

The city life isn't for everyone. Some like busy, bustling cities and some like the open country with nothing but dirt roads. It becomes all about preference, but in my opinion, I couldn't think of a better place to be. There are a million reasons why the city life is the life for me and thousands of other people, but here's 8.

1. People

There are so many unique and creative individuals in the city that you could spend an entire day sitting in one place watching the mass of different people go by. It's a place where you can see hundreds of totally different people in just one block. Why would you want to be somewhere that everyone is the same?

2. Places

There are so many places that people come just to see. From Manhattan to Brooklyn, and everywhere in between and beyond, there is always a new place to go see. Don't forget about all the famous landmarks that people come all the way to just see.

3. Opportunity

It is the land of opportunity. When I think of the American Dream, I think of the city, where anything is possible if you have the drive. The city inspires you to follow your dream, just as everyone around you is doing, or has done.

4. Individualism

A place where you can be your own person completely. No one thinks twice as you walk by, because well, they have their own lives to worry about and they see the most unique people every day. Want to wear a funky outfit? Dye your hair a new color? Sing and dance through the streets? Have no fear, because no one will judge you for anything.

5. Art

From the artists in the subway, to the wall murals all over the city, to the art museums, nothing can beat the artwork found in the city.

6. Activities

Don’t like being bored? This is the place for you. You will never have a shortage of activities, with something to do at every turn. Walking down the street is an activity in itself. Get tired of doing things in walking distance from your home? The subway will take you to wherever you want to go so you can do a million more activities.

7. Never sleeps

The other part of not being bored is that this city never sleeps. It is open 24/7 for your enjoyment. You can be out an about at 3 in the morning and the streets will still be bustling with people. Nightlife in the city will be happening all through the night, every night. Your local CVS will be open 24/7 so if you need something at 3am, just take a quick stroll down the street.

8. Solidarity

You can be completely on your own, with no one looking twice at you being alone in the city. The opportunities are endless, and you definitely have the opportunity to be yourself. You can be anyone you want to be in the city. This is a place to fall in love with yourself and your surroundings.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
