Hello, My Name is Scottie and I am addicted to "Lost." *cue group therapy's "Hi Scottie"
But honestly, In my opinion, "Lost" is one of the greatest shows ever invented. If you don't know what "Lost" is (why are you even reading this... just kidding), it is a television series that ran on ABC for six seasons, currently, it is available on Netflix. It is about a group of people who are in a plane crash during their flight from Australia to Los Angeles. They crash on a "deserted island" and are forced to deal with not only the struggles of survival but bad guys and monsters... and yeah, so you get the point. If you haven't seen it, stop what you're doing and go watch all of the seasons right now!
I have been lucky enough to travel to the Hawaiian Island of Oahu twice now and I have gotten to see many places that the show was filmed. Today I am here to tell you my top favorite places around the Island that I think every fan should visit... even if you aren't a fan these places are pretty cool.
1. Waimea Falls at the Waimea Valley Audubon Center
I have made this hike, that takes about 30 minutes, twice now and never regret my decision. Along the hike you get to see so many pretty miniature falls and plants...you might even get to see a peacock or two. At the end of the hike is the most rewarding delight! A beautiful waterfall with a pool of fresh water where you can swim. This waterfall was seen multiple times in the show, but most commonly known from the scene where Kate and Sawyer had their "romantic swim", and found the briefcase full of guns.
2. Camp Erdman
Camp Erdman is a camp held by the YMCA, but fans will know it as "The Other's Camp". During that day you can walk around and take pictures in front of the small yellow cabins.
3. Mokule'ia Beach Park
Across the road from Camp Erdman is Mokule'ia Beach. This beach is where the initial crash scene was filmed. As you walk along the beautiful beach you can almost picture the middle of the plane across the sand, and if you listen hard enough you can probably hear Shannon's blood-curdling screams.
4. Hawai'i Convention Center
A place that is easily accessible to the public is the Hawai'i Convention Center. Unbenounced to most but all of the LAX scenes were filmed on a set built at the convention center and not actually in Los Angeles. Any scene that was set at the Sydney Airport was also filmed here.
5. The Cathedral of St. Andrew
Here again, the scenes where Desmond and Penny appeared to be at Oxford University, the pair was actually at The Cathedral of St. Andrew. This is located in Honolulu, so it isn't difficult to find.
6. Turtle Bay Resort
You don't have to stay at the resort but you can find multiples filimg locations on the property. Number one is The Banyon Tree. The famous tree most known for the scene where Kate hides from the smoke monster in its branches. Also at Turtle Bay you can find a wooded area where Jack, Charlie, and Kate all "trecked through the jungle", to find the cockpit.
7. Papa'iloa Beach or Police Beach
This beach is one that isn't as easily accessible to the public, but not completely unavailable. During the first four seasons, the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 had a beach camp where they lived. These scenes were filmed at this location.
8. Paradise Park
A place that I was unable to visit, but one day I will is Paradise Park. Paradise Park was actually at one time a bird sanctuary located in Manoa, but some of the most iconic scenes were filmed here. At this location, you can find the caged where Jack, Kate, and Sawyer were held captive by The Others.
I hope every fan of "Lost" has the opportunities that I had. There are so many more locations that I would love to one day see, but for now, these will have to do.
