Dance: Ten; Looks: Three

Ah, the world of musical theater. Once you move past all the spontaneous chorus lines, belted ballads and harmonized opening numbers, musicals have some very important lessons about life and living it the best way you can.

Quotes from different songs across the entire genre of musical theater can provide the pick-me-up you need to get through your week.

1. "You're never fully dressed without a smile." — "Annie"

Pepper's happy-go-lucky number reminds us that no matter what clothes you're wearing, whether they're high-end or knock-offs, as long as you pair your outfit with a big smile, your day is going to be great.

2. "I'll eat some breakfast then change the world." — "Hairspray"

Okay, so maybe you're not going to attempt to change the racial inequality in Baltimore through the use of a popular TV show like Tracy Turnblad does, but it's still a good mantra for your morning.

3. "Forget regret, or life is yours to miss." — "Rent"

Although hindsight is easier than foresight, remember to stay focused on the present and don't let life pass you by. Looking back on the past doesn't allow you to move forward, so don't regret everything you do, because you can't control the past. You only have the choices ahead of you to control.

4. "Look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now." — "Hamilton"

Of course, the Schuyler sisters were talking about how exciting it was to be in the brand new United States of America, but who says right now isn't a great time to be alive, too? Take pride in what you do today because one day it is going to be history.

5. "Some things I cannot change, but 'til I try I'll never know." — "Wicked"

Work hard toward what you want, and while there are plenty of obstacles that may stand in your way. Although you can't change some of the obstacles, you can still try and, if that doesn't work, you can work your way around it.

6. "Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day." — "Oklahoma"

My mom always said that if I began the day by telling myself it was going to be great, I'd have a great day no matter what. If you remember that it's a beautiful morning and a beautiful day, you're going to walk with a little extra pep in your step.

7. "Stay sane inside insanity." — "Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Let's be frank: the world is an insane place. There's no doubt about that, and it's hard to stay sane because of that. But try your hardest, work through the insanity and you'll come out on the other side better.

8. "Who told you you're allowed to rain on my parade?" — "Funny Girl"

Don't let anyone bring your good mood down. No one deserves to have their parade rained on, especially when it was sunny and cloudless in their sky. So don't let that happen to you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
