8 Bible Verses For The Overthinker

It's not a secret that we all struggle with overthinking. At some point in our lives, we've all been there. Whether you have a moment of weakness or that moment turns into every day, you're not the only one. Somehow society has made a point to call people out when they overthink. We forget that none of us is perfect. It's OK not to have it all together.

Normally when we overthink, we are insecure about something. We are lacking trust — not only in ourselves or the other person/thing involved — but in God. In those times when we find ourself in this position, we have to remember to trust the process. We have to trust that God's plan is bigger than our own.

For the moments when we need to be reminded that everything is going to work out in time and with faith, it's helpful to look back on these comforting verses:

1. “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." - Philippians 4:6

Have you ever heard the saying, "Have you prayed about it as much as you've talked about it?" It's an easy trap we all fall into. We worry so much that we forget God is the one who knows best. Next time you are overthinking something, tell Him. If it's something you need, you'll get it when the time is right. And if not, He'll give you what you actually need.

2. "Whenever you feel unloved, unimportant, or insecure, remember to whom you belong to." - Ephesians 2:19-22

Remember that when you overthink, you are forgetting that God's got this. If we trust in Him, there's no need to be scared. It will work out in time.

3. "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" - Luke 12:24

Sometimes we forget that worrying about the things we cannot change, doesn't actually change anything. So the next time you overthink, ask yourself if that changes the outcome. I think you'll find yourself a lot more at ease that way.

4. "Because He bends down I will pray as long as I have breath." - Psalm 116:2

When we overthink, we are looking for answers through uncertainty. We find ways to create outcomes in our heads of the what-ifs. We forget that God knows everything. He has the answers we are looking for.

5. "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." - Deuteronomy 31:6

If you trust in the Lord, there is never a reason to overthink. You may not understand what is going on, but you will in time. God's got it.

6. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." – Matthew 6:33-34

Try to keep your feet under you. When we start to think too far ahead, we build our insecurity. Remember that we aren't promised tomorrow. Live for the now and trust that will be enough.

7. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid: do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." – Joshua 1:9

If you are feeling unsure about things, don't lose faith. I know I keep saying in time things will work out, but that's only because they will. I promise.

8. "She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future." - Proverbs 31:25

This just happens to be my favorite bible verse. It reminds you that you are strong and you are enough. You don't need to overthink because everything is going to work out and it will be OK. Have faith, your time will come.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
