7 YA Books You Should Read In Middle School

I never really took to middle school. Being treated like a kid when you were expected to act like an adult bothered me. To get through those three years that I'd rather forget, which is a whole new topic, I read a lot. And I mean A LOT. A lot as in I had a very close relationship with the librarian who I still talk with today ever though I am in the 11th grade, you get it. So here are seven books that you should read if you are a total book nerd like me.

1. Dork Diaries

Girl drama has lasted for thousands of years and will last another thousand years, it's just a fact of life. But Russell's series gives us numerous plot lines where the "dork" navigates herself out of social problems that she assumed, like every teenage girl, ruin her life.

2. The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet

I saw this book in a bookshelf in the hallway and just loved the title. It's an pretty accurate description of the book. Middle school, genius sister, and Shakespearean parents this book has a very interesting plot.

3. Ten Ways to Make My Sister Disappear

I just read this book to get new ideas ( I have a little sister ) but fell in love with it's cute storyline.

4. Every Judy Blume Book

Judy Blume prepares you for those moments we all reach in our adolescent lives. Emma Stone said it and so do I.

5. The Selection Series

This basic situation is similar to The Bachelor but with actual feelings. Girl drama, love triangles, and terrorists what more do you want?

6. Percy Jackson

Rick Riordan has done such an amazing job by using Greek mythology to create a present-day story. This series was my first love in terms of books.

7. Harry Potter

The Harry Potter series is the Bible of the fictional world ( I hope nobody gets offended by this) it's just a fact. You need to read and love it to pass life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
