Freshman year has already been the craziest time of my life, and it is ONLY week seven. From moving in, making new friends, communal showers, eating dining hall food, and yes, cleaning my own room has been nothing but a huge adjustment. Although it is such a crazy time, I have enjoyed every single moment, from the good to the bad. If college has taught me anything so far it is to embrace everything that happens.

1. Most girls are still stuck in the high school mindset.

By the end of senior year of high school everyone hears these exact words from a group of girls, “I can't wait for college! I'm so done with all these fake girls surrounded by me. College will be so much different!” The truth is, it's not at all. There are indeed still immature girls who just want to start drama and be a fake friend. Trust me, I have already had my fair share. With that being said, don't think everyone is your friend and has good intentions.

2. Not going out on a Saturday night is nothing to be ashamed of.

There is nothing wrong with not wanting to go out and getting drunk every weekend. Sometimes you just need a night to yourself to relax and reflect on the long week you just encountered. Lets face it, the parties are too hot and crowded. Trust me, you won't be missing out.

3. There will be infinite amounts of nights you stay up until 3am.

Because you wouldn't be a college student if you didn't wait until the night of to study for the huge test you have the next morning.

4. Sharing a 12x10 room with another person is the weirdest experience

Freshman year will be a shell shock. Waking up in your small twin size bed and rolling over seeing someone literally 6 feet away from you is the weirdest feeling, especially if you were as lucky as me growing up and never had to share a room. Oh, also, if you have one thing in your room out of place it will look like a tornado hit it.

5. The washers will always be broken.

Oh, so you want to do your laundry? Good luck finding one that isn't broken or is available. Also, standing there waiting for those last few minutes on someones elses to be done isn't worth it. They will NEVER come get it on time and taking someone else's wet laundry out is just disgusting.

6. The people in your hall will be some of the nicest people you have ever met.

Since I attend such a small school, there is not many of us in my hall, so you can easily get to know everyone. From me crying in the bathroom and having a random girl giving me a hug, to throwing up at 2am and having the girl across the hall from me bringing me Goldfish, Cheerios, and water to make me feel better, they guaranteed will be some of the best people you have ever met. Also, when your RA throws events for your hall it's really fun when all your hallmates attend, because who doesn't want free food!

7. Being stuck on campus without a car is the WORST.

Most campuses do not allow freshmen to have a car on campus, and I won't lie to you, IT SUCKS. Being away from home is hard enough, but being trapped on campus, there's no worse feeling. Just be prepared to befriend some upperclassman so they can drive you around.

From the broken washers to dealing with sharing pretty much a room the size of a cubicle, I wouldn't change a thing about college. It has hands down been the best time of my life, and I can't wait to see what's in store for not only the rest of freshman year but my whole time at Merrimack College.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
