Feet: they're something that we're all born with. They come in different shapes, sizes, widths, and colors. At a young age, we're taught that when we go out, we need to wear shoes. However, not all shoes are made equally. Also, not all shoes are made for all sizes of feet. With this being said, here's a list of 7 things that people with small feet such as myself deal with on a daily basis.
1. When the smallest size available for a cute pair of shoes is a size 9.
Don't get me wrong — there's nothing wrong with having a size 9 foot. In fact, it's the average shoe size for women. However, if someone with a size 5 foot like myself were to wear a size 9 shoe, then we'd constantly be sliding back in our shoes — or even worse, they'd fly off our feet and knock someone in the face.
2. Almost always checking in store or online to see if you're able to get the same pair of shoes in the kids' section instead of the normal people section.
Hey, it's not my fault that kids shoes are less expensive than their adult counterparts. It's also not my fault that I'm looking to save money in the shoe department so that I have more cash to spend on food.
3. Feeling slightly awkward when entering the kids' shoe section in any store.
Yes, I'm 21 years old. Yes, I have the shoe size of an 8-year-old. No, it's not my fault.
4. When you tell people about your shoe size and then they make sexual remarks about it.
This specifically applies to Tinder, but still — I don't really want to know what my shoe size means in terms of sex. I can pass on knowledge of that.
5. The struggle of having to find a pair of shoes that don't have lights on them, but not being able to find shoes that look somewhat normal.
Most 8-year-olds think that having shoes with lights on them is the coolest thing ever. Most 21-year-olds try to look for something more basic, but struggle to realize that most people with their shoe size are in elementary school. Hashtag fail.
6. Wanting to wear heels but then realizing that most brands don't make heels for kids.
What this means is that it's either time to shop in the normal people shoe section or to skip wearing high heels altogether. The choice is yours.
7. Realizing the best part of finding and wearing shoes is the time of the day where you don't have to wear them.
Thankfully, shoes aren't required everywhere. You don't need to wear shoes when you're just relaxing at home. Also, you don't need to wear shoes if you don't have plans of going outside -- that's why socks are a thing.
While shoes are a necessity, they're not always required to be on your feet. Although they're meant to protect your feet from dirt and bipolar weather, they're unnecessary if you're at home and are just walking around inside your place or if you only get up when you need to use the restroom.
