When I'm down in the dumps, I have a few songs that I listen to in order to help pick me back up. I'd like to share them in hopes of helping others.

1. 1-800-273-8255 by Logic ft. Alessia Cara, DJ Khalid

This song speaks in the beginning about feeling suicidal, and goes on throughout the video to show this kid going through high school, being bullied and wanting to die. It goes on to show by the end of the video that he gets help and doesn't want to die anymore.

"It's the very first breath you take when your head's been drowning under water."

2. Gold Steps by Neck Deep

This song really hits a string in my heart. The song itself is from their album, "Life's Not Out To Get You." It talks about how hard it can be to move on with your life and how hard it can be to keep going, but you have to try. It discusses how we all feel like we are "stuck in the middle pages" at one point in our lives or another, and how difficult it is to finish the story. It tells you that you can do it.

"'Cause sometimes things will bend you, but trust me you'll be fine. 'Cause I've been moving mountains that I once had to climb."

3. At My Best by MGK ft. Hailey Steinfeld

This song really helps when I am going through the feeling of not having support on something. It lifts up my heart, telling me that I don't deserve to have those people in my life -- that I deserve better. It even helps when I am going through problems with a bad friendship or relationship.

"I shout, I swear, I get angry, I get scared. I fall, I break, I mess up, I make mistakes. But if you can't take me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best."

4. Bounce Back by Big Sean

This song may not be the style that some people like, but it helps me. It talks about how even though I may have failed last night, I can still win and bounce back the next day.

"Last night took an L, but tonight I bounce back."

5. Stronger by Kelly Clarkson

This is an oldie but a goldie. This song tells me that no matter what I go through, it is going to make me stronger -- that it may have knocked me down, but I will get back up again.

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stand a little taller. Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone. What doesn't kill you makes a fighter, footsteps even lighter. Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone."

6. Human by Christina Perri

This song doesn't necessarily boost me up when I'm down, but when I make mistakes, this song gets blasted on repeat. It reassures me that messing up is okay -- that I'm not perfect, and it's okay because I'm only human.

"But I'm only human, and I bleed when I fall down. I'm only human, and I crash and I break down."

7. Warrior by Demi Lovato

This song touches my heart in every spot. Demi released this song after coming out about being bullied, self-harming, and dealing with eating disorders. I feel like most of this generation knows all too well what these things feel like to deal with. I also know it all too well.

"Now I'm a warrior, now I've got thicker skin. I'm a warrior, and I'm stronger than I've ever been."

These songs not only help me when I'm down, but keep me on track. I hope they do the same for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
