Music is such a powerful thing. It has the power to shift your mood one-way or the other. If it is a really good song it has the power to make you feel every emotion possible. When you listen to this type of song you can get lost in it for hours. I particularly have some songs that either fit my stage of life I am in or emotions I have felt.

The genre of these can be anything; it doesn’t matter as long as they touch you in some way. Whether it is about love, loss, growing up, or moving on, songs have a way with your heart. Here are 7 songs that will move even the toughest of hearts:

1. Last Time For Everything by Brad Paisley

Whether or not you like country music this song relates to you. It reminds you of all the last times you have had in your past. It takes you back and makes you remember the things thus far in your life that has been significant. When I listen to this I realize you cant plan your life perfectly, memories just happen. No matter how hard you try to stay in the moment forever it will eventually become a memory, and that is okay. Time moves but that doesn’t mean you forget the memories.

2. Do You Think About Me by Caitlyn Smith

This song hits your heart where the hole from someone else was left. Whether you ended a relationship and have regrets or they ended it with you and moved on this song relates. It says it plain and simple in the title, all you want to know is if they actually think about you. Do they care about you still, do they love you still, or are you just a distant memory in the back of their minds. If you’re in the process of moving on still this song will probably make you emotional because the feelings are still there and it relates to you especially because you think about whomever the person is all the time. As much as you may want to go back in the past you cant, the relationship ended for a reason, it wasn’t meant to be.

3. Shoutout To My Ex by Little Mix

This is the type of song you play on repeat after you realize you finally are free from whatever type of guy had a hold on your heart before. This song gives you all the empowerment you need to feel confident. It is thanking your ex for all the pain and heartache he’s given you because it has made you stronger. If you just went through a breakup and need to feel empowered to move on, listen to this song. It provides a message and is the perfect song to jam to.

4. For the First time by Darius Rucker

This song poses the question, “when was the last time you did something for the first time?” Think about this for a second. We all live our schedules every day how often do we really do something for the first time? Of course growing up we had so many firsts but as we have gotten older those firsts have dwindled down. This song reminds us to live life to the fullest, have some adventure in your life. You only get one life to live; you should put every ounce of yourself into whatever you do. Don’t have any regrets when you get to the end. Be wild, spontaneous; try something for the first time.

5. Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato

If you have ridden with me in a car ever you know this is my go-to song to blare. This song makes you feel on top of the world if you let it. The story of this song is all about how whoever broke your heart wants you back but you are stronger and not going to let any toxic people back in. the lyrics of this song make me want to scream every word. Why would you apologize for being independent and strong? Anyone who doesn’t let you be yourself and make you a better person is not worth your time. You are worth so much more than you give yourself credit for, don’t let anyone else control your worth.

6. Five More Minutes by Scotty McCreery

If ever there were a song to cry to this would be it. Sometimes it comes on and I have to change it because it makes me so sad. This song takes you on the path of your life all the way to the end. We all have had those moments where we wish we had more time. As we enter new stages of life it is often scary and we wish we could go back or pause time right where we are at because we don’t want to grow up. For me, this song especially resonates when I think about the past. My last volleyball game ever ended so abruptly, I didn’t even have time to think about the possibility of it ending. I didn’t know it at the time but that was the last time I would ever step on the court, just like the song says the next time I go to a game, I'll have to buy a ticket. Maybe you’re at the stage in life where your kids have left home for college and all you wish is that you could all be together again for a little longer. The story of this song reflects your different chapters of life and highlights how at every chapter there are moments we wish we could hold onto longer but we cant, we just keep going and creating new moments while remembering the old ones.

7. See You Again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth

This song is for everyone because everyone has experienced loss. Whether or not you had a perfect relationship with the person a loss is still a loss. In the world we live in today I feel like we are always hearing about people passing away and it becomes really draining. It’s hard to process a death but it’s even harder when you don’t have faith. I cannot imagine losing someone I cared about and thinking ill never see them again. This song reminds us of the fact that we will see them again. Whoever you lost is at peace and free from harm. You will see them again if you believe in the idea of everlasting life. Which is why it is so important to have a relationship with God, so you can know no matter what you will be okay. For the ones left behind from those who have passed I hope you can take comfort in God and his promise of everlasting life. I truly believe we all have angels watching over us, your loved ones never truly leave you, they are present in the things you see that remind you of them and in your heart.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
