For someone who loves fashion as much as I do, it's nearly impossible for me to try to pick just one item that I couldn't live without, or go a day without wearing. But when I was posed with this question a couple days ago, my mind drifted towards what I have the most of in my closet... shoes. I am a shoe addict! I never leave the house without them (obviously), build most of my outfits around which pair I want to wear that day and somehow always manage to convince myself I need a new pair.
Unfortunately, I cannot afford to snatch up every pair I fall in love with, there's nothing wrong with looking. Though the weather has chilled out, fall shoe trends are heating up. I took the liberty of compiling a list of my favorite and top selling shoes for Fall of 2017.
1. The Loafer Mule
As made popular by Gucci, the loafer mule has been a big hit since spring of this year and does not seem to be going away. There's so many different styles available, from artful looks in bright colors, to classic black leather with fur trim to keep your toes warm. The loafer mule can easily fit into anyone's wardrobe and instantly takes a simple outfit up a notch. I picked up a crazy-affordable pair at Target for under $30!
2. The Slouchy Boot
This style made a major comeback with a gorgeous glitter boot at the Saint Laurent Fall fashion show that took place in March earlier this year. Rihanna, of course, was the first to rock the actual pair off the runway. But celebs and fashion-lovers have been killing it in a variety of colors and textures. Public Desire has a killer pair for $80, and they offer a student discount!
3. The Balenciaga Sock Sneaker
A $700 sneaker?! Yes! Balenciaga has taken over with this futuristic-looking street sneaker that keeps selling out after it's restocked. Street style enthusiasts have been pairing the sneaker, which was designed to be used for anything from training to running errands, with their looks since it first dropped. The Speed Trainer retails for $695 and has helped push Balenciaga to the top spot for highest selling brands of the third quarter of this year.
4.The Pointed Toe Bootie
I love a good bootie. This pointed toe style, that has been seen with anything from super chunky to stiletto heels, provides an amazing sleek look that helps elongate the figure. The pointed toe bootie is very versatile, which is why it has been so popular this season. It pairs well with jeans, dresses, a-line skirts, you name it! A variety of retailers have taken their spin on the trend, so it's quite easy to find a pair to fit your price range. Public Desire won me over for again with this pair!
5. The Fenty Puma Cleated Creeper
I could not make an it-shoe list without mentioning the Fenty Puma collection! Rihanna's latest drop has featured a range of new styles of boots and sneakers, as well as older styles in new colors. Though the Cleated Creeper has been out since earlier this year, the newest release has a broader range of colors and has been one of the best-selling styles from the collection. The Cleated Creeper brings the perfect balance of high-fashion, punk elements to a casual look, so there's no surprise so many have been trying to get their hands on them.
6. The Vans Old Skool Sneaker
I love Vans and practically live in them. There's such a wide variety of colors and styles and they are extremely comfortable to wear all day long. The Vans Slip-On sneaker was very popular this past spring and summer and now the trend has transitioned towards the Old Skool style, which are laced and have a bit more coverage. I picked up a pair of black with off-white checkerboard Vans Old Skool sneakers and have been completely obsessed with them. It's gotten to the point where I try to wear them with everything in my closet and end up forcing myself to change. They're such a classic style and a great go-to when you have no idea what to put on your feet.
7. The Nike Air Max 97 OG Sneaker
Falling right in line with other futuristic-inspired sneakers that have been trending throughout the year, this throwback pair has become a must-have for many streetwear bloggers. There's a major downside though... They're almost IMPOSSIBLE to find! After selling out on the Nike website and at many retailers at around $170, the resell market is probably your best bet to find a pair, but the prices are marked up significantly!
This season has only furthered my shoe addiction, with so many styles out there, I doubt I'll be able to put a stop to it any time soon. Though many of the hottest styles from major brands may be really out of my price range, (broke college kid problems) remember there's plenty of amazing alternatives with more affordable options that still provide the same look.
