With its mind-boggling success, HBO's Game of Thrones has paved the way for epic fantasy to be fully embraced be the general population. So if you find yourself looking for more after Game of Thrones, here are seven series to start with.

1. The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan

Probably one or of the most classic epic fantasy series of all time. This fourteen book series is enough to satisfy your epic fantasy cravings for a long time. It features many of the same hallmarks of Game of Thrones: a stellar, huge cast of characters, a massive world reminiscent of medieval times, strong women who take no lip, and lots of death.

Not only that but Sony Pictures Entertainment already has an adaption of the series in the works, so you can be well ahead of the story instead of scrambling to finish the books each season.

2. The Realm of Elderlings world by Robin Hobb

This is my personal favorite fantasy series of all time. Everything you can ask for is in this world composed of 5 series (16 books). Hobb writes fantastic characters (even a gender fluid one) that you will never forget, set in an amazing world with intriguing magic and dragons, too.

If that doesn't convince you, maybe George R. R. Martin's comment “fantasy as it ought to be written" will. Those interested should start with the first book of the Farseer trilogy, "Assassin's Apprentics," which occurs first chronologically.

3. The Song of Shattered Sands series by Bradley Beaulieu

This new series is basically Game of Thrones in the desert. Instead of tunics and broadswords, we have shamshirs and turbans. A delightful spin on the classic epic fantasy set-up, The Song of Shattered Sands will leave you thirsty for more about its world and its strong female protagonist, a Blade Maiden set on revenge. Begin this series with "Tweleve Kings in Sharakhai."

4. The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

Brandon Sanderson is a favorite in the fantasy community. The Stormlight Archive series goes hand in hand with Martin's continental wars, but with a little more magic throne in. Sanderson is famous for his unique and fascinating magic systems and the Stormlight Archives is an excellent example. This series starts with the book "The Way of Kings."

5. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

I know this one seems obvious, but don't roll your eyes just yet. As an obvious comparison to Game of Thrones, "The Lord of the Rings"has an incredible story and world with characters that will blow your mind--characters who get much more detail and depth in the books.

If you already love the movies, think of the books as a sort of bonus content with scenes and characters you've never seen before! Not only that, but you could also venture out into Tolkien's other works such as "The Hobbit" and "The Silmarillion."

6. Dune Chronicles by Frank Herbert

We're taking things to outer space here, but fret not. The Dune series is incredible and chock full of political intrigue and differing factions striving for power. Not only that, but we have great characters and worm-like beasts one can ride through the sands...almost like others ride dragons. Fans who also enjoy science fiction will love this classic series.

7. Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks

This one is for fans of Arya. This series focuses on an assassin honing his skills to leave his beginnings as a gutter rat behind and embrace a world full of politics, intrigue and magic. Start with "The Way of Shadows."

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
