7 Reasons Why I Do Not Like Movies
onecluecrossword

Everyone I have told that I do not like watching movies have looked at me weirdly or called me weird. I don’t think it is weird at all because everyone has their own preferences. I just prefer to not go to the movies or wait out in a long line for the movie release. Plus, it is just expensive to go the movies, dropping 15+ bucks to watch a movie that may or may not be that great. Even when I am at home, I would rather watch Jeopardy than sit through 2-3 hours of pure hell. But, the funny thing is I can binge watch tv series for hours on end.The only exception, I can make is the Disney Channel original movies, which I used to watch when I was young and still do if they air on the channel. Movies nowadays are just boring to put it in simple terms. I cannot understand why one would waste their money and time on that when they can watch a tv series.

There are a few reasons why I do not like watching movies and will list them below. I am sure there are other weirdos out there like me, who will agree with me.

1)Every movie is pretty much the same, no matter what genre. There’s a problem and the solution is right there in front of them but they do not see it. It is infuriating!

2)The basic good v. evil concept.*yawn* There have been 1,000 of movies made with this concept, the only change is the actors and plot.

3)Some just drag on forever, those x-amount of hours seems like x-amount of years. (cough…Titanic)

4)The decent movies flop while the cheesy and cliche movies take home the Oscars.

5)Movies tend to be made to win awards not entertain the public. Filmmakers have forgotten that the public makes their film outstanding. If they are not going to make movies that appeal to the public, their movie will tank. Also, we live in a capitalist society, everyone is trying to make money so instead of making a quality film, they tend to make a movie which will fill their pockets. Which equals to a terrible movie.

6)There is no character intimacy like many people have with tv show characters. I am sure no one has cried over Jack from Titanic than Jon Snow being stabbed by his brothers in Game of Thrones.

7)Unlike t.v shows, movies are fixated on one genre. Like a t.v show will have me ugly crying one episode and the next laughing my butt off. Movies are not like that!

Next time you watch a movie, think about these reasons and then question yourself. Would you rather watch the Transformers or Orange Is The New Black? Do you feel a close connection to the guy (I don’t even know the names lol) or Taystee, my homegirl? Come on now! I think it is pretty clear that movies are just going down the drain, it is time for people to appreciate t.v shows.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
