Even though it should leave and never come back.

7 Reasons Why We Love Winter

With Spring right around the corner, the promises of warm sunny weather and shorts are quickly approaching. Maybe I'm biased because my birthday is in April, but Spring is my favorite season. The warm rains, the cool breezes, the sun feeding the flowers, and all the budding trees. There is, truthfully, so much to love. But the Winter has some good qualities too! So before we ask the Winter to leave and never return, I want to thank Mother Nature for the greatness of the wintry snow-filled days.

1. Getting to drink hot coffee outside comfortably.

I don't know if it's just me, but the juxtaposition of cold and hot is too good to pass up on winter days. And if you don't like coffee just substitute hot tea or hot chocolate! The point is experiencing hot vs. cold.

2. Walking through Winter light shows.

You know what I'm talking about, those amazing walking paths where twinkling fairy lights have been put up in a myriad of different ways. Sometimes depicting stories from holiday songs or religious backgrounds, but always amazing displays of people's festivity.

3. Snowfall at night.

My favorite part of having my bedroom window directly face a street light is that when it snows at night I can just watch the snowflakes come down under a perfect spotlight. It's light the world slows down to let me take in the beauty of it all.

4. Sledding/Skiing/Snowboarding/Skating

The most fun, free thing to do in the Winter is to go participate in the sports of the season. Whether you enjoy ice skating more than sledding, or skiing more than hitting the slopes on a snowboard, there is always a hill that you could conquer with a few friends.

5. Utilizing Winter fashion!

Look, there is a reason it's called "Winter Fashion." There is only one season when we can comfortably rock our five layers, snow pants, and Winter boots!

6. That Winter weather sweet-spot when it's sunny and 35

Right when the bone-chilling cold has finally broken and the Sun has come out for the first time in like two weeks. That is what I'm talking about.

7. Snuggling up with a blanket and enjoying time indoors.

The last thing I want to be thankful for is something that I love about rainy days as well. When the weather isn't the best out there, and you don't want to brave the cold to entertain yourself, no worries because Mother Nature has given you a prime reason to snuggle up under a blanket and spend time indoors.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
