7 Podcast To Listen To On Long Road Trips

In This Article:

I'm heading back to Syracuse this week and there is a 10 to 12-hour road trip ahead of me. In times like these, I tend to look for solace in my favorite songs, audiobooks, and of course, podcasts. When looking through the thousands and thousands of podcasts online, it can be hard to determine the right one for you. Here are 10 podcasts I enjoy and/or have been recommended to me!

1. My Brother, My Brother, and Me with Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy

This podcast is one of my favorites and can always put a smile on my face. The McElroy brothers have created a self-proclaimed "advice show for the modern era" with comedy that is fast and witty. Their ridiculous banter is the kind that can only be created by siblings and reminds me of conversations I've had with my own sister. If you want to laugh at mindless comedy for an hour or two you should check out My Brother, My Brother, and Me. Here's a link to their page on Maximum Fun Network.

2. Lore by Aaron Mahnke

If you're like me, you are interested in the creepy and unknown stories from History. Lore is just that. The rough half-hour podcasts are easy to listen to and give you a nice case of the chills. Mahnke's calming voice and word choice paint beautiful stories that lift right out of history books and into your ears. It's one of my favorite podcasts of all time, I highly recommend checking it out. Here's a link to the episodes.

3. Oh No Ross and Carrie by Ross and Carrie

In this strange podcast, the titular Ross and Carrie travel around trying everything from joining different religions to looking for the paranormal and then report back. Their motto? "We show up so you don't have to". The show is both funny and informative, and with such a wide range of topics, you're bound to learn something new. Find episodes here.

4. Mike Boudet's Sword and Scale by Incongruity

Sword and Scale is a true-crime podcast that goes over some of the worst crimes. The podcast gives you a glimpse into the stories as they would have happened in real-time. With audio samplings and a fantastic narrator, the stories are really brought to life. Find episodes here.

5. The Flop House with Elliot Kalan, Dan McCoy, and Stuwart Wellington

This podcast consists of three guys who watch a movie that flopped at the box office, and then talk about the plots and why the movie did so terribly. It's funny, it's witty, it's relatable. What else could you ask for? Find episodes here.

6. Jordan, Jesse GO! with Jesse Thorne and Jordan Morris

Although I haven't listened to this podcast, 10 years of the show and multiple awards speak for itself. The comedy podcast has no consistency and is pretty much the dumbest show on the internet. It's on my list of future listens, and I think you should check it out too. Find episodes here.

7. The Adventure Zone (Amnesty and Balance) by The McElroy Family

This list wouldn't be complete without at least one other McElroy mention. This podcast involves the McElroy brothers and their father playing Dungeons and Dragons. They bring their story to life with interesting characters and voices, throwing in some of that McElroy family comedy that everyone loves. Note: unlike the previously mentioned podcasts, this one should be listened to in order. The other podcasts in this list can be listened to in any order. Find episodes here.

I would also recommend any other podcasts with any of the McElroys or any other of Aaron Mahnke's podcasts, but I figured my list would get too repetitive. Hopefully, my list helps you find something to keep your ears happy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
