There is a saying that goes, "All people with healthy physical appetites have a sweet tooth somewhere in their heads."
I myself, have a significant sweet tooth. I am a firm believer that most good things come covered in chocolate. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner- my wonted sweet tooth is likely to occur throughout all day, everyday. I know I am not the only one with the desire to end- or begin, a meal with a treat consisting of a considerable amount of chocolate or fruit, like an ice-cream encompassing sauces and other indulgences or a cupcake with a decadent frosting. Luckily, San Diego has offers a considerable number of sweet treat stops. As a self-confessed lover of sweets, I have compiled a list of places in San Diego that I had to stop by to satisfy my sweet tooth. Here are 7 which caught my eye:
1. The Milk Bar
A cereal milkshake with the option of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, cookies, and.. milk of course allow all the sweet tooth-ers in the San Diego area to satisfy their milkshake cravings. The Milk Bar, located in North Park San Diego, receives raving reviews for their tasty shakes. With a menu consisting of cookies, beer, milk, ice-cream sandwiches, as well as milkshakes- this is the perfect stop to indulge.
2. The Donut Bar
A must try when in San Diego, the Donut Bar offers a variety of scrumptious donuts to start every sweet tooth's morning off right. The Donut Bar offers more than just the typical donut you find at your Von's bakery.. (although, I do enjoy a Von's donut). The donut shop offers flavors like French Toast and Strawberry Split. Also, make sure to check out their churro donut ice-cream cones. Could you start your day off any better?
3. Breakfast Republic
As a lover of sweets and breakfast alike- I frequently find myself opting out for the sweetest pancakes or french toast on the menu during breakfast or brunch. Luckily, Breakfast Republic has four locations AND a french toast sampler to assist all of those who have those sweet cravings in the A.M. There is a bit of a wait, so ensure you take a pre meal snack before you dive in to their sweet Oreo pancakes or the s'mores and banana split french toast.
4. Square Bar Cafe
Square Bar Cafe offers a significant amount of tea, boba, and coffee. However, for us sweets lovers, the real eye catcher is the cookie monster ice-cream and the crepe cakes. Piled on with fun toppings and bright colors, the cookie monster ice-cream is an ideal snack for when the temperatures start warming up in San Diego. The cookie monster ice-cream is not only sweet, but it is also very photogenic.
5. Rum Jungle Cafe
Although #5 might seem a little odd in this list of decadent treats- my knowledge of sweet tooths includes that not all sweet tooths are the same. I often crave something sweet, refreshing, and on the healthier sweet. Rum Jungle's acai bowls in a pineapple- topped with mango, pineapple, banana, honey, and coconut, allow you to still satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling too guilty.
6. The Baked Bear
Craving an ice-cream sandwich? Look no further. The Baked Bear screams sweet and is a one stop shop for those with some serious sweet cravings. With the option of ice-cream on a cone, in between cookies, or in between warm donuts- you can fulfill such cravings with the delectable and vast menu of toppings, ice-cream, cookies, and donuts made from scratch DAILY.
7. Bing Haus
A more simple- yet satisfying dessert. Bing Haus offers rolled ice-cream and soft serve- the ideal stop for those craving a cold treat. Offering nutella, green tea, and coffee rolled ice-cream (just to name a few) the flavors can satisfy the whole spectrum of sweet lovers.
Although a pint of Ben & Jerrys, homemade Tollhouse cookies, or the neighborhood froyo stop all are terrific options- San Diego offers a vast number of sweet treat stops that an individual with a sweet tooth must take advantage of.
