Summer: the season of vacation.

With kids wrapping up school, Memorial Day, July 4th, etc, summer seems like the perfect time to pack up the family and get away to relax for a while. Growing4 up, family vacations were always such a fun time with my loved ones. I have countless memories of building sandcastles with my dad, playing put putt with my siblings, and picking out the tackiest souvenirs at Alvin's Island.

For the past 10 or so years, my family has been going to an area of Florida called 30-A. 30-A is a two-lane highway that runs along Florida's Gulf Coast. With beautiful beaches and endless amenities, 30-A is undoubtedly one of my favorite vacation spots. In addition to these amazing beaches, stores, etc., the food along 30-A is superb. I wanted to share with you some of my favorite grub spots in one of my favorite places!

1. La Crema

Even the name itself sounds good, right? Offering a wide variety of tapas and chocolate dessert, La Crema at Rosemary Beach will not disappoint. One of my favorite delectables offered is the chocolate fondue; fruit, cake, and marshmallows dunked in warm, rich chocolate, what could be better? Other must-haves include the warm chocolate chip cookies, salted caramel ice cream, and the hot chocolate molten cake.

2. Frost Bites

This vintage Airstream in Seaside offers delicious, cool shaved ice for those hot Florida days. This refreshing treat can be enjoyed in over 30 flavors! Frost Bites also offers homemade frozen custard, fresh squeezed lemonade, and cold drinks

3. The Red Bar

The Red Bar in Grayton Beach is one of the area's most popular indoor destinations known for its great food and wine. To me, the restaurant has sort-of a 70's vibe, with red lighting, a jazz band, and a funky atmosphere. Honestly, this is one of my all-time favorite food joints; the panné chicken and mashed potatoes are to die for. The Red Bar is also known for celebrities popping in and out, how cool is that?!

4. Cowgirl Kitchen

Cowgirl Kitchen, located near La Crema, is also one of the best places to eat on 30-A. You've got to try Cowgirl Kitchen for both breakfast and dinner. Popular for breakfast is their Southern-style dishes including breakfast tacos and burritos. For dinner, their pizza is out of this world! My favorite is the Roni's Pie, which is just a simple, traditional, yet scrumptious pepperoni pizza.

5. Pickles

If you're looking for a good burger and a delicious milkshake, Pickles in Seaside is the place for you. I absolutely love the relaxed atmosphere and walk-up window, allowing you to come up and grab a bite to eat straight from the beach! The hamburgers and chocolate milkshakes are top notch, along with its famous fried dill pickles.

6. Kilwin's

I am an ice cream lover all the way, and Kilwin's has one of my very favorites. I am obsessed with the French Silk ice cream in a sugar cone! Located in the Destin Commons, you must stop by Kilwin's and enjoy some ice cream, handmade fudge, and other treats.

7. Rosemary Beach Farmer's Market

As someone who loves to eat a balanced diet, the farmer's market is the perfect place to get fresh and healthy food. I have found some of my absolute favorite dishes and snacks at this farmer's market. From freshly made chips and salsa to handmade health crunch to traditional baked goods, the farmer's market at Rosemary Beach offers a little something for everyone.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
