I was born and raised in the South and majority of my winters lack snow and anything below 50 degrees, so I finally accepted the likelihood of never seeing snow on Christmas and made a list of tips along the way.
1. Layers
One day it could be a high of 35 and then the next day sunny and 75 so just because you're in the south and it's winter, don't think that the weather won't decide to do an 180 on Christmas Day. Always dress in layers because by midday you'll be sweating off all those Christmas cookies wearing the parka that kept you warm at 8 am.
2. Uggs
Mostly because uggs are my guilty pleasure and I don’t own any REAL winter/snow shoes so they’re pretty much my go to. And I don't care how ugly and how middle school these shoes are, they are comfy as heck and keep my feet warm when South Carolina decides to partake in Winter, so I’ll continue to be basic and wear them.
3. An umbrella (just hear me out)
It may just be South Carolina’s claim to fame for bipolar weather, but rain is more likely to occur in the winter than snow, so an umbrella is worth it.
4. Peppermint everything
Ok, I just really like peppermint so it was pretty much a no-brainer and even if it’s 70 degrees out peppermint instantly makes everything feel like Christmas despite the temperature so, it works
5. An imagination
If you've ever spent a winter or Christmas in the south you know that snow on Christmas morning is very unlikely. Therefore an imagination is necessary to get the full Christmas experience because no snow and mid 70’s it's hard to get in the Christmas spirit, trust me, I’ve lived in the South my entire life and never once had snow on Christmas and because of that, I have a vivid imagination.
