6 Signs It's Spring In The Midwest

Easter is officially over, which means everyone is in the mood for all the new life that comes with the spring time. Spring is a time typically associated with flowers, baby animals, sunshine, and happiness. After all, summer is just around the corner, isn't it? With that being said, anyone that lives in the midwest may be in for a few surprises when... "spring"... rolls around. We're not exactly used to having the traditional seasons up here, but somehow we still seem to forget what a Midwestern spring is really like, and we're never prepared. Here are the top signs it's spring near you:

1. Boots season is over... or at least should be.

You took those winter boots home for break and packed up the sandals, after all, it's spring now! But nobody seems to have told the weather, so... enjoy the frostbite.

2. The sun comes out for once after a long winter.

Literally, once. I think it was last week? Maybe Wednesday?

3. You get to see all the baby animals coming out...

Like the squirrels, and at some schools they'll start to take over their rightfully owned territory on campus once more...

4. And all the little birds fly back up after the winter!

They can fly back, though. I wouldn't mind walking down the sidewalk without being terrified.

5. Baseball season is back, so get outside and enjoy it!

Be sure to get out there and enjoy the traditional american sport, surrounded by friends and 20mph winds.

6. The weather is just a teaser for what's to come in the summer!

Or at least that's what my friends from the south are telling me, it's still snowing here.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
